The Excelsior class ships are some of my favorite in Star Trek.
I think it would be cool to see an Excelsior with a cloaking device. Also, they have the Miranda class based on the Constitution-class ships and the Nebula class based on the Galaxy-class ships; it would be cool to see a similar small ship like that based on the Excelsior class.
An excellent tribute. Certainly does the Excelsior-class honor. Before the Enterprise-E launched, these had been my favorite ships in Star Trek. Indeed, it was seeing the USS Excelsior in Star Trek 3 that drew me into this Universe to begin with.
I agree that the Excelcior class was a beautiful class. I also believe that it was like a big cruise ship. If ever in battle it would be slow and clumsy. Thats why by the time Enterprise C came around they were already going smaller. Enterprise D was the ticket. Galaxy class made it possible for a large ship to handle difficult situations.
I love this video of such a fine ship! I can't stand the idiots that design video games who put the plasma glow on the top dorsal sides of the engine nacelles instead of the lateral grilles along side. Such ignorance is not befitting of a professional video game maker. Look at Star Trek Legacy. I just think it is irritating to see. Like someone placing, or removing the red stripes or placing wrong numeration. Yet they still do it. Nobody cares anymore.
@NightwishRaven999 So whay doesn't the Excelsior class have a Buzard Collector? I think it would look better with the red glow in front of the nacelles.

A fitting replacement/suppliment to/for the venerable Constitution-class. I love the original design, though it would've been nice if when they appeared in ST:TNG, they were updated to look like they had been upgraded for the mid/late 24th century e.g. phaser strips and shiney blue engines (I realise they did this in ST:DS9)...they looked kinda dated in ST:DS9...HOWEVER...the design is wonderful and is still one of my favourites.
Yeah I was just on about the blue glow engines...ofc, there were no phaser strips on the DS9 Excelsior's...I agree that DS9 Excelsior's and I also think the Miranda's in that show looks low budget and weird....just to represent a 'Federation ship'.
She is lovely, the most elegant ship that ever created. She looked strong but yet not harsh. I love this ship. I still remember her for Star Trek VI. Good work
I am with you the Excelsior is a great ship and i would like to see the more advance Excelsior ship if you have the time. Don't get me wrong there is nothing with the Excelsior ships you have tribute this video too though the more advance ones are more powerful. Anyway great video i look forward to more

Yup, I like 2:01 up to 2:18.
I used the NX-2000 Excelsior for that part.
She seems to be gliding peacefuly in space ; )
I used the Uss Valley Forge from Ds9 in most of the video. They are all pretty neat.
Thanks for the comment ! : )

I personally didnt like the Ds9 ones as much as the TNG era ones. I have also never seen a phaser strip on any Excelsior class ship.
As far as I know, they still only use phaser banks and were not made to have phaser strips/arrays.
I agree with you that the design in wonderful though...it is indeed a good replacement for the Constitution class.
Thanks for the comment...

Don't suppose you have any videos of the Daystrom class starships?
odinoneeye 2 years ago
No I dont. I do however have a "Post Dominion war Excelsior" in my BC ship repertoire. It looks very similar to the Datstrom class you speak of.
But then again, my video tributes only feature actual "canon" federation starships...the Daystrom class is not one of them.
