actually you can by melting you can burn only the inferior

metals and semi precious metals that is in the gold but

if is mixed with platinum or palladium it must be don in

aqua regia you can also refine in electrolytic solution but

it becomes complicated refining by heat is centuries old

but it works being a jeweller for 54 years I do the lot that

is making all my solders and colors and refining the floor

i do this at work and im a jeweler :o. also if u wana make cash buy gold jewelry and refind it..makes sure u know the process ;D you need nitric and chloritic acid to make aqua regia. after that you attack it and you metalize with sulfato ferroso.. you wash powdered gold smelt.. and boom! 99.9% gold ;D good profit. and yes refining silver and gold is illegal without licence but nobody gota know. "wink wink"
