  • This came on last night :)

  • thank you!!

  • @NEGFTW Italian???

  • is it same to the story??

  • wheres spiderman?

  • I always idolized Lugosi even as a child. Talkie films were new at the time and yet he grasped the idea so perfectly!

  • Love this movie. Great performances and a truly mind-bendingly twisted plot. Thanks for sharing this!

  • thank you for uploading thise someone else uploaded the remake but missed out a part urgh i love thise movie and the cat reminds me of my little black kitty

  • He He He! I love this movie!

Lugosi & Karoff is my favories Monsters xD

  • There is no other film like this .."Vitus, you are mad"! ... Fantastic!

  • I got a CIB!!

  • classic indeed! bravooo :')

  • If there is a perfect film with both Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff in it, I think it would have to be 'The Black Cat'. The only other film I can think of in that regard would be 'The Body Snatcher' and to a lessor extent 'The Raven' In The Black Cat though you have two towering equals locked in a duel of the minds to the death, beautifully playing off each other.

  • @cha5 I think BODY SNATCHER is a much better movie, but this is a better showcase for Lugosi, certainly. He's merely a bit part in SNATCHER, but he gets to be the hero to Karloff's villain, here.

  • @cha5 Did you ever see Son of Frankenstein? Karloff's last romp as the Frankenstein monster and Lugosi as Igor are just magic.

  • One of Poe's best short stories.

  • Thanks veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery much! God Bless You!

  • WOW!!!! Thank you so much for uploading this!

  • Magnificent ! Excellent ! Bravo !!!

    ABSOLUTELY SUPERB !

These old horror movies were the best.

Thank you so very much for putting this up.

    :-) Chuck

  • Wonderful!!! I love the house, the movie and Karloff and Lugosi. I saw this forty years ago...

  • Wonderful!!!

  • Béla Lugosi and Edgar Allan Poe.... perfect combination

  • The ultimate Lugosi-Karloff showdown!!

  • Thanks for putting this movie online. I grew up on these movies, and absolutely LOVE this one!

  • my favorite......!

  • I can't thank you enough for posting this!!

  • Whatever its virtues, this movie seems to have nothing at all to do with the Poe story except for there being a black cat in it.

  • @something9313 the raven maybe or white zombie.

  • werdegast is not exactly evil in this film , he is more like a tormented soul , tormented by prolzig and world war 1 !

  • This is one of my alltime favorite movies.

It's an underrated masterpiece! And, I consider it a drama rather than a horror movie. It's a movie about love, vengence and a game of death between two mortal enemies. And in my opinion, Bela gives his most touching performance as Vitus Werdegast. It's really his tour de force performance, that proves that he was an amazing actor. Boris is fantastic too, it's his most sadistic villain.

  • @anton1990 And don't forget the fabulous music <3

  • I saw this movie on one of those "shock theaters" when I was a child and was not terribly impressed. Not until years later when I saw it once again with more mature eyes did I realize what a dark and disturbing masterpiece it was. There is so much that lies just below the surface:dark sexual repression, twisted relationships, and aberrant behavior, necrophilia, pedophilia, sadistic revenge, murder and incest. It is amazing to me that it managed to slip past Hollywood's censorship.

  • This is marvelous 8D Thank you!

  • if only Lon Chaney Jr. was in this film. Then we have three of the greatest horror movie actors in one film.

  • The opening theme was "recycled" as the theme for Universal's first "Flash Gordon" serial (1936).

  • Uncle Boris too!!

  • This never gets old - seen it about 50 times lol

  • this is one of my favourite bela films =]

  • Lugosi is so beautiful in this movie X3

  • @yayoineko I heartily agree. Such a gorgeous man!

  • @yayoineko his was a master at his trade

  • been a long time since i have seen this nice to see it again.

  • bless you for putting this on!!!

    classic perfection!
