  • I do everything you said but I prefer to change the oil in the spring. You should have mentioned that bike stands are better and they do not cost too much and take up just a little more room. Great vid

  • Thanks a lot. I just bought my first bike and needed some advise on how to winterize it.

  • naja komme aus deutschland

  • how much fuel stabalizer should be mixed in with the gas?

  • @portugue100 - the container should state the mixture. A quart should last you years

  • @portugue100 - the container should mention the ratio.

  • Do you think that starting my motorcycle a few times a week in the winter months would be ok ? Have you ever known a bike to survive the winter this way? This is my first bike and I know I have a lot to learn.

    Thanks

  • Good advice. I will use this when I get a motorcycle. I live in OHIO as well

  • great tips for winter my friend keep the good work up

  • another great vlogger. im subscribed after this one video!

  • I live in Houston so riding a motorcycle in the winter is a joke. ;)

  • OR you can just ride your motorcycle in the winter :)

  • Don't forget this very important factor - if you're going to winterize your bike during a cold-spell, then it's imperative that the spod-rod has been de-scaled and that the shims are dis-assembled and re-calibrated using a feeler-guage. In my experience, there is no substitute for 'Walcott's Universal Column Grinder' when locating a new axle-stanchion.

Also - and this is so important - NEVER attempt to alter the ph balance of the side-spleen in the gangle-arm - it just won't work. Good luck.

  • @K3KCT Thanks K3KCT.. you likely saved me from having to buy a new spindle-crank next season, and possibly even a rotator cuff!

  • @cubix2006 Glad to be of help!

BTW - if you ever have to buy a rotator cuff, don't forget to apply rubbing compound, liberally, to the reverse-drive flange BEFORE you insert the four-way linkage - it's a straight reversal of the assembly and exactly as described in Haynes' easy-to-understand manual.

One more thing you should know; I wouldn't buy a spindle-crank from Halford's unless it's a genuine Whitworth part.

    Good luck.

  • just give them a friendly greeting of your middle finger if the tailgate ha.

  • Down here in south texas .. we skip that step. We drive all year round. a little rain now and than makes it more fun ... Cheers

  • LMAO - "Railroad tracks! ahhh Umph!" pro vid thanks for the tips!

  • If you do use the tender guys, don't forget if you have a lead-acid battery, (not sealed or matinence free) make sure you check it every few weeks to make sure the acid level is up and doesn't dry the battery up and catch fire. Had a house fire a few weeks ago and that was the cause.

  • i keep my bike a few miles from my home in a room temp garage , if i just add the stabi in a full tank and start it up every one or two weeks with the stabi in the full tank will that be okay or should i fully winterize it as you described with taking the battery out and leaving the stabi in a full tank etc

  • Thanks for advice.

  • GO BROWNS!!

  • @9baseball although a normal Ohio resident would agree, I am a Dolphins fan.... lol

  • winterizing is alot easier than you think u fill that gas all the way up and start you bike every 2 to 3 weeks end of story dont make it harder than what it is

  • hey man i have no clue what you mean by FI light but i no warning light if that is what you mean and my valves are fine thank for your comment nice bike! ps it dont hurt to raise some hell on it

  • i was just going to ask you if you where in ohio lol

  • I am strangely enough!

  • Couple quick questions about stabilizer: So you had half a tank of fuel already and then added the fuel/stabilizer mix to fill the tank? Or fill the tank with half fuel and half stabilizer? Also, after the winter do you have to do anything to the mix or tank before you can ride again? Like drain it a bit and add straight fuel or something, or will it run with the stabilizer in the tank no problem?

  • No, I had a full tank of gas and add the appropriate amount of stabilizer...after winter just start your bike like normal, it will run fine with the stabil in the tank. Thanks for the questions! Really good ones too!

  • Thanks for replying so quickly!

  • cardboard under the wheels works pretty well for the tires

  • Nice video, but 'winterize'?

    Who invented that word?

  • Good vid my friend! Thanks

  • thanks!

  • December 4 in Montreal... Thanks for the pointers--off to wash tho ol' gal.

  • Great video! I had to "Winterize" my bike a few months back.

Oh boy, do I miss taking it for a ride.... sigh...

What cam are you using ?

I've been searching for something that would give quality like what you have here, but so far I've not been able to find anything that come even close!

  • Nice vid. But please be more specific!! what kind of camera are you using? specifics . it is so clear and the sound is awsome. thanks

  • ah i live in CAL and i never will have to do this, lol.

  • 4 months? damn I love Maine but it sucks for motorcycles.

  • making a youtube video on your bike on your way to the bank. that is the most effcient thing i have ever seen anyone do. the only way it could have been more efficient is if you had one of the bank tellers on your back and were driving them to work.

  • lol, thanks?

  • pause at 00:39 what is that symbol? So familiar.

  • well the colors are trademarked by Microsoft for Windows...thats probably what you were thinking, but its just a local comp around here.

  • Just wanted to say Budd... GJ cheers for the vids all though i do no the things your are explaining i like watching yours vids. so thanks again man and cant wait to see more

  • how to winterize your motorcycle:

    Step 1: Ride South.

  • If it were only that simple.... I would... I would ride down there and chase deer and pigs with you...lol

  • we just got hit with flurries here in wisconsin...grrr

  • suck suck suck.... I don't want to be in your shoes, but its just a matter of time... probably 3 weeks at the latest...

  • snowin in toronto... shit

  • I don't ever do anything special to winterize my bike. There will be a sunny day every couple of weeks when I can bundle up and ride it about twenty or thirty miles. If you live in the northern states where you have to park it for that long, I guess you would have to store it and prepare it to be stored.

  • LOL it was 80 here to day, i rid year round;}

  • **grrrrrrrrr** =)

  • Sorry man but I've been a biker all my adult life and reading from a list while riding is one of the dumber things I have seen. Riding without due care and attention is the official charge over here for doing something that stupid.

  • the official charge here is I don't really care... I know my own riding attentiveness and really don't care what you have to say... If you don't like it, stop watching my vlogs. Thanks. Peace

  • what for cam system you have?

  • what for cam system you have???

  • you said second times number three xD

  • I've happily never had to winterize a bike.

  • **growls irritatedly** me and DJcip met today and were talking about that exact same thing... we want to meet you and rebel...lol

  • Well I'm hoping to be in the Midwest next summer. And Arizona is always welcoming vloggers

  • good info, especially for new riders who might have forgot some things...like me...

  • great quality video, and nic vid man :D

  • hey what cam do you use?

  • one that records video!!! =)

  • Hey man, this isn't about bikes but I cant decide whether or not I should get a Ford Ranger with a manual or automatic transmission.

Any other used cars/trucks would get?

  • motorcycles...

  • Do you need to lube chain too? Thanks, great vid - favorited it. Will try to do my best with my Kawasaki 250R baby :-)

  • ya general maintenance is required

  • cool vid i love how to vids i just like learning about motorcycles lol keep em comin!!

  • good to know too bad im gonna ride my ninja through the snow until i move to AZ

  • Nice vid!

  • Dang you're HD is great.

  • Nice video!!

    Good tips!!!

  • what if i wanna keep riding through winter??? do i still need to do all that stuff?

  • uh, no?

  • hahahahahahahah wow

  • nice! ;) Good info! ;)))

  • thanks horsefly idk if i will just keep it running the whole winter cause right now its my only vehcle lol kinda sucks. its like 20 in the mid day in the winter here

  • Interesting... I´d add, if your gonna have gas in your tank, when parking the bike close the fuel valve and dry the remaining fuel... it keeps the carburator clean and dry. Turn on the bike from time to time to conserve battery and oil...

    Nice tips! You got it!

  • yes youre right, mines a FI bike so I don't have a fuel valve

  • Great tips mate, i don't need them for where i live though hahah.

I especially like the fuel stabilizer idea. :D

  • funny how we are both watching this....ha ha, I should cover the muffler daily cuz I got tons of geckos around, lol

  • LOL, i get the geckos too!!

The little pale colored ones that make a clicking noise at night lol. :D

  • wow, thats just rubbing salt in the wound of me putting my bike away.... ;p
