i just like to think Jeff Healey, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Lee Hooker, Sippy Wallace, Robert Johnson...and oooohhhhh so many others are out there somewhere...still rockin' the blues like only they could!!!!! and now....they have Miss Etta James to sing lead for them!!!! <3
That crowd should be on their fucking feet! Jeff was ridiculously talented, and when he stood up and played that solo, I stood up and clapped. I think he hit the notes Morrison hit on the original, he just had his style. Thanks for posting!
I was only lucky enough to see the Jeff Healey Band once, in Glasgow, in 1990 or so when he was touring Hell To Pay. What a pity I won't get another opportunity and I'm sorry he's gone.
What an awesome version, playin' his ass off for a dead crowd. Were they expecting Tina Marie or some lame dance music?? Nothing worse than playing to a house full of Zombies.
If you're ever feeling sorry for yourself and think you can't accomplish anything, just listen to this man play. Blind since he was a baby and he learns to play guitar as good as anyone before or after his time. Total inspiration and a total genius.
this is the only cover of this song i truly like other then the jim and the doors rest in peace jeff maybe you and jim are jamming together out there somewhere and jeff thanks for those amazing shows back in the late 80 s at molson park in barrie i remeber your closing performance in the pooring rain the show did go on many memorys thank you
@theflyingmouse God didn't give him anything, basically what you're saying is the years of practice and craft meant nothing? he was born and could play automatically?
@theflyingmouse Nah, I just get sick of seeing comments like "he had a God given talent" when as a musician I know how much is time and sacrifice is required. If I just prayed for it I'd still be here twiddling m thumbs.
@SuperJBrowne hate to tell you this but you either are born with it or not and i think you already know this because you are probably a musician that has to continue to struggle because you werent born with it.
@777leenie1 For what it's worth I don't struggle and to a degree I agree with you, some people are quite gifted in certain fields but there is still hard work in everything. Take for instance guitar playing, you don't just pray and all of the sudden you have vibrato like David Gilmour or Eric Clapton, you have to work at it, which is the point I was making. It's like saying Jeff Healey had nothing to do with any of his abilities.
@777leenie1 Cont. Just so we're clear I've been playing at a comfortable level for a long time, mostly blues and rock but have been in a thrash band for about 3 years so i guess you could say I struggle a bit with that stuff but blues is my bread and butter.
@777leenie1 And so what about Beethoven, has anyone heard the stuff he wrote when he was young? I could be complete crap who knows? I bet it's nothing like the stuff we know now of him.
with apologies to doors purists, this is the best damn version of this song ever.and the best garage band/bar band thrasher.we close every show with this, and it never fails to get them roarin'!! keep your eyes on the road....rip jeff...
@SweetWhiskerz I agree that this man is a legend... but piano is simple to play? lol..... in a pure 'musical" setting, piano is shit tonnes harder than guitar...
