I control my healthcare and I am an American. I can't afford healthcare so I don't purchases it. I am covered if I get into a car accident by my car insurance company. I am covered if I get injured in a home invasion by my renters insurance. The only thing that the government should do is place better regulations and left the regulation they have right now that prevent competition. I am a believer in free market because it works.

The proposed national health insurance bill does not close loopholes from illegal aliens. It does not require proof of citizenship for health insurance coverage. The excuse given is that it would be a big headache to implement proof of citizenship. I say better to go thru checks than to let 35 million illegal aliens get a free ride att our own national expense.

I was surprised to see Obama defend the public option as vigourously as he did... I have never seen him do this. He had to, it's absolutely required. He made a nice analogy with public and private schools. He suggested that it's absurd to oppose the public option as this kind of "socialism" exists in other spheres without any such comments.
I disagree entirely with this analysis... he is not saying "let's fix a little here and later we can fix some more there", he says that he wants to fix it entirely... he says that there MUST be something that can cause competition with the private insurance... which is what the enemies of the public option do not want. I think that this may be an attempt to spin things to try to kill the public option in due course by creating a false "reality".

If Obama's healthcare plan is even a shadow of the Canadian healthcare... there will in essence be a death panel to decide who gets treatment and who doesnt. As long as the Fedral Reserve & Wall Street owns the US economy..there really is no need for the healthcare reform. There are millions of people who have jobs and yet are still unable to afford health care coverage, maybe you need to take your head out of your ass and realize how much insurance companies are raping individuals to a point were millions can't even afford it.

Nobody is talking about illegal immigrants or those who don't choose to purchase health care...There should be a plan in place to assist those who work and still can't afford coverage, which is very costly . I work as a Pharmacist and daily encounter individuals who simply cannot afford medication..So you are telling me that a child dying of cancer should just be allowed to die because the family can't afford the $100,000 bill and have no health insurance

Three kids and they are all conservative like me...taking responsibility. You were done before you got started. Wrong is when you force people to pay for others services. We give to help others at our discretion but as sole supporter of my family, I have to say stop somewhere. Health care needs to be reformed but dont put it in the hands of government. Reform starts with tort reform and opening up the markets. Pharmaceutical manufacturers need some relaxation on legal issues etc.

The "public option" as you call it will be operated by the government. It has to be funded to start with. The money will be taken from somewhere else and Obama himself says he will tax other programs, big pharma, private medical research and private insurance. Surely you see that will raise yours and my end cost. We must cut the costs of litigation on both ends of the spectrum. We must stop medicare fraud. But you cannot take from the haves to take care of the dont haves.

I was surprised to see Obama defend the public option as vigourously as he did... I have never seen him do this. He had to, it's absolutely required. He made a nice analogy with public and private schools. He suggested that it's absurd to oppose the public option as this kind of "socialism" exists in other spheres without any such comments.

I disagree entirely with this analysis... he is not saying "let's fix a little here and later we can fix some more there", he says that he wants to fix it entirely... he says that there MUST be something that can cause competition with the private insurance... which is what the enemies of the public option do not want. I think that this may be an attempt to spin things to try to kill the public option in due course by creating a false "reality".

Katie mentioned a poll that showed a negative result for the President that was well below the average of polls. There is no hidden agenda in anything here. Obama is trying to put a cheaper alternative out there and thus a price control on the private health care industry. There is no reason at all that private insurance should be 200, 300 or 400 a month other than greed.
If you are going to talk about hidden agendas, perhaps you should look back to 2003 and the Iraq war propaganda...

As someone with a pre-existing condition (a heart problem I asked for... errr was born with) - the insurance company (Anthem Blue Cross, to be exact), already decides what I can and cant have. I say let someone else have a swing at the bat.
It's major systematic reform - it shouldnt be sitcom scripted and fast-food consumable.
If you can't wade through 1,000 pages - dont criticize those who drafted it... criticize some 9th grade teacher out there who apparently didn't do his/her job.
