Cool video... the oriental guy looks like he originally started off studying a different art; mostly because of his methods of kicks aside from the traditional hidden kick. Majority of the karate/kickboxing kicks that the asian guy does in this video could easily be replaced with a hidden kick. I think he kicks like that purely out of preference. In my opinion is not classic authentic ninjutsu. However it does look somewhat like hapkido. Good video don't get me wrong. I have a lot of respect for any martial art. I've been practicing ninjutsu for 15 years now so i can honestly make out the differences. Lots of respect for you all though...
i believe ninjas were wimps cuz always attacked in groups never on theyre own where as ancient chinese warriors and war lords cud defeat whole armies on theyre own with wushu kung fu which roughly translates as the art of war
These guys looked like they were scared of their own weapons, indicating they were using live blades and aren't very experienced with them. If they were more experienced, I expect the video would look a lot better, they were too reserved.
These experts stating that this is not authentic Ninjutsu. What is authentic? In my opinion this school takes a more freestyle approach. A lot better than any other Ninjitsu class that I've done. I would definately train with these guys.
i'm looking for a good reason to start really training again, i think something like this would spur me on to get my arse back in the gym, i live in London so il have to try and find this kinda thing.
you do realise that anyone/student of Ninjustsu, once having achieved a certain level of ability, trains in a places you are never gonna even see, or know about.. FACT. I may point out that what you are seeing here is known as "tai juitsu".. or unarmed combat... a picee of the system.. a good example is laugh at is when i hear comments re ; a ninja wouldnt last long in the cage,, a ninja pratiscing his art corretly, purely wouldn't even be see, take his opponent out with ,for instance, a weapon,
"you do realise that anyone/student of Ninjustsu," is dead.
all practitioners are dead. the last was Fujita Seiko.
your fact is an ASSERTION.
and there is NO historical evidence to suggest that ninjutsu is or includes martial arts/budo/fighting styles/taijutsu... if you can provide some i would love to see it.
taijutsu is a mishmash of several takamatsu's genuine ryu combined with his travels and studies of china, but a ninja story of when he was a kid sells better.
there is only 1 martial art tht can defeat or at least equally mach ninjutsu and thts shoalin kung fu thts the only 1 tht can match it i do like a lot of ninjutsu but there is a limit to the speed and acuracy which you dnt get with kung im a big fan of both martial arts ninjutsu has its stealth and balance but shaolin kung fu has blinding speed 3 times faster than a snake strike and a strike tht is a lot more devistating than the ninjutsu death strike and is illegal even to name wivout training
@lionsexlover Man, here I will add 2 more arts that can evenly go with ninjutsu or shaolin... 1 - Muay Thai, 2 - Sambo... And when it comes do defense, no art can match aikido... trust me, I've been practicing martial arts since I was 4 years old. The two arts you mentioned sure are powerful but there are others quite as powerful when executed in a right manner.
@kumogakuredojo i no theres 1 ninjutsu strike tht if its done in a cirtain way it can restart some 1s heart after a heart attack can't remember the name tho
@lionsexlover I wouldn't call it a strike so much, but sure. I do believe that modern first aid classes will show you this technique. This is also not very relevant.
that is, in fact ninjutsu.... with some really unorthodox practical tsuki waza and geri waza training (mostly focused in close combat). Not really traditional, but authentic =]
Really liked their speed and focus though. The hanbojutsu also is very good...

you see the problem with these type of videos are they all seem to be putting their arms legs & whatever else right where the other guy needs them. why dont they show a real one on one fight, where the other guy dosnt know what the other guys gunna do. these do nothing to promote your fighting style but make everyone who watches them laugh.
Ok everyone on here who is saying this is not authentic needs to respectfully shut up. the key to understanding this statement is to know the difference between authentic and traditional. traditional means you are still going by the "old way" Authentic means its the real deal. So, this video is a perfect example of "Authentic Ninjutsu" because if there is a need for ninjas today this would be some of the more modernized things they would train in. its authentic because this is modern ninjutsu.
I was a member of the BBD (brians bujinkan dojo) 14 years ago.the training wasnt like this back then it was typical masaaki style.then the dojo closed down years back and i heard the BBD had taken their own route on ninjutsu.i guess heres the proof of that.. me personally prefer the traditional training. not this mixed up BS.it shouldnt be called ninjutsu at all in my opinion but hey..
@NIINPO Exactly, this is not authentic Ninjutsu, here is an exemple of Authentic Ninjutsu :) Look for "Seminaire nin-jutsu" on youtube and see the first vidéo
ninjutsu is the way of survival. it evolves like Hatsumi and Takamatsu Sensei said. this is a prime example of ninjutsu in modern day and traditional aspects.
@TheThesamuray i agree with you and sascpepino as this is definately no ninjutsu since i saw some muay thai (the knee strike) i think they should take lessons from the 9th ryu grandmaster masaaki hatsumi of the bujinkan dojos he is a true master and is known as the true last living ninja by the ninjutsu community
I train in Wing Chun and a bit of MMA (Muay Thai / Ground fighting). I'm not too clued up with Ninjitsu apart from its traditions, however this looks extremely impressive and could be applied to the western world of street fighting (Excluding long range weapons)
The way they were doing their knuckle push-ups in the beginning was all wrong. The index finger and middle finger knuckles should be touching the ground, not the little fingers.
Ninpo sorry for u but the true is that togakure ryu is not listed in the bugey ryuha daijiten as a koryu as a matter of fact there is not reference in the iga musseum of any hatsumi ninja school if you find any one let me know
@sebastianguis: any retard with an index finger can a pull a trigger. Real warriors actually know how to shoot. They are proficient in hand to hand combat.
so why dont we learn astrophysics in a dojo? why arent all classes held in MA dojo's???
ah right... because not all matters can be learned in a dojo... especially those that require research... unless you know of many dojo/library crossovers....
this isnt something that can be settled in a dojo... it is a question of evidence,... HISTORICAL evidence.... something your dojo, lacks....
not that it will stop your predictably inane response....
Brian McCarthy chose to break away from Hatsumi and the Bujinkan 15 or so years ago so he or no one who trains under him has the right to say that they are practicing ninjutsu. It is time for BBD people to stop wearing the Bujinkan symbol (the Bujinkan as you know is Hatsumis organisation)
0208444 you are either mistaken or confused in your definition of ninjutsu, our only known definition is what Hatsumi shows and tells us, to know that you have to train with him and listen to him personally, as a great many people do today, not state what you think was said and done in years gone by.
that leaves you looking foolish for ignoring the real ninja Fujita Seiko, you know, the one that was authenticated by the koryu societies hatsumi wants to get into....
ah and the historical record, we have 17th century documents with the term ninjutsu, and it is used exclusively to refer to the techniuques of espionage in the scrolls...
that means you cannot redefine ninjutsu as you please. thats moving the goalpost,
Creationsofmyown your use of swear words and rudeness says it all about you and your philosophy, you are not coming from a very good place I suggest you take a look at your outlook on life.
What I was referring to is the fact that Hatsumi is alive and you can talk and listen to him personally, as I have, he is a direct descendant of previous grandmaster receiving oral information, verified in many places, he will explain to anyone who wants to listen what Ninjutsu is, but we dont need to go into that here, research for yourself. Fujita Seiko died I believe in 1966.
takamatsu toshitsugu was never a grandmaster of ninjutsu...
bugei ryuha daijiten 3rd edition, watatani kiyoshe includes a personal anecdote of takamatsu telling him that he made up his "ninpo" ryu from "ninja-gokko" (childhood ninja games)
there is also the fact that historically ninjutsu was never a martial art. therefore hatsumi is the ONLY person to ever claim that to the koryu boards... no wonder he got laughed out....
Bugei Ryuha Daijiten recognises Togakure-ryū as a legitimate koryu bujutsu school and there is no debate that the Togakure-ryū is a ninjutsu school and that Takamatsu was the grandmaster and Hatsumi is. But you will believe what you want to belive what ever the evednce put infront of you is, the truth is it doesnt matter, you and I could go to Japan research the history books, determine exactly where and when ninjutsu was written down, ......
verify who defined it and who passed it onto who and test people today to see if what they are practicing is the same as then, this still wouldnt get us anywhere. Firstly due to its nature not much was written done Secondly It doesnt matter what you call it. Why this video annoys me is the BBD are claiming to teach what Hatsumi taught Brian, which it is not. .....
The important thing is to be honest to yourself are you studying a martial art that you think will protect your life, having studied with Hatsumi for 20 years abroad and in Japan I can see with my own eyes that what he teaches is very clever, no one in one generation can make that up. Choose your path wisely, you could be on it a long time and make sure it is where you want to be going.
Interesting that the author of FUJITA SEIKO: LAST OF THE KOGA NINJA - Phillip T. Hevener, is a 6th Dan shidoshi instructor in the Bujinkan, I am guessing he has done some research?
and to stop using his image and using the Bujinkan name (BBD) and claiming to teach Ninjutsu, especially to pretend to have some connection to the Bujinkan. What Brian learnt was a mere snippet compared to what Hatsumi has taught since and the likely hood is he has forgotten most of what he learnt.
Brain McCarthy was graded to eighth dan by Hatsumi. And that was in the days when Hatsumi used to kick the shit out of westerners rather than hand out gradings on a whim and take payment for them. The days when there were only only 10 dan gradings, not 15!! People should show some more respect for Hatsumi's original judgement. There are shrines to Hatsumi and Takamatsu in BBD dojo's and Brain shows utmost respect and admiration for Hatsumi.
Hatsumi used to say there were three pillars to training: Kihon, Kata and Kumite. I have trained with both the BBD and the Bujinkan and learnt a lot from both schools but the Bujinkan do not do kumite any more, and they very rarely do Kata or Kihon either. It is all henka. There is much I can never understand about Hatsumi's judgements of how to run training in his organisation but I cannot see any effective fighters arising who are not experienced in real fights, in full contact sparring.
Look at Hatsumi's old videos, read the old stories of his students (Nagato, Doran Navon, Stephen Hayes, Jack Hoban for example) training in the Buinkan used to be far more intense than now. There is no substitute for the knowledge and tutelage of the grandmaster but the BBD continue to spar and that means training with them will always give you a very important thing you wont get in the Bujinkan.
Many of the blackbelts who left the BBD when Brain split from the Bujinkan and went to Hatsumi were immediately graded up several dan gradings, that says something about standards.
Anyone who understands the first thing about ninjutsu knows that there are no fixed forms, so all those gossiping on the net about 'authentic technique' totally misunderstand. What is authentic is the philosophy behind the movement, technique does not make you a ninja.
both bujinkan and aikido are forms of past budo which today one can follow and be really budo or just modern budo and its not easy to see the budo in these arts since they are modern growth of the old ones , but i would say the true budo still exist if you seek it.
@Frankykarot1982 teh closest i have found of ninjutsu is bujinkan by master hatsumi .. i believe in it becuase it has jujutsu and the principal of blending in.. such thing is true for samurai art that exist in aikido and aikijujutsu ..
i study aikido and is also a BU- based art and i see relationship between warfare martial arts like bujinkan and aikido but less in western karate and western kungfu.
well, lets more say ''traditional Bujustu'' since ''Bujinkan'' itself is very recent federation of 9 schools of Bujutsu.
But what I meant was, THIS VIDEO, THIS is complete parody of a martial art I deeply love. This was a very western thing, damnit, this was fucking MMA, no taijutsu, readable movements, too much openings AND god damnit I hope their swords were not sharp because they will hurt themselves doing Iai like they do.
something that facinates me is how martial arts are developed , In japan people have stronger physical build but they have majored in harmonyand none violnce approach to martial arts while in china it is opposite its alot of punches and kicks and too much explosive and physical Martial art while the chinese are not so strongly buildt.. this is an interesting find.
I want to answer you that it seems the japanese martial arts which involved wepons do have taijutsu , aikido is very much so.
i saw some bujinkan on the nett also ith hatsumi, i think if htsumi and morihei had met they would love each other because they see the idea of AI- harmony, love and the idea of true streangth being non mascular.
Their technique has weakened over the years, these guys have lost their way, the blind leading the blind comes to mind, these guys have been with him for yrs and are unwilling and afraid to pull away and grow up. they are kids comfortable being told what to do by brian. if any of them had the courage to train in the bujinkan again they would see that all they know now is just the top of the ice berg, i feel sorry for them
the zempo geri i would give you if you put your sword against you that way, have no name.
after that you'ud have to find your heart 2 km back. jaja
this shows how people that can follow simple rules like train the way that the master says (Soke Massaki Hatsumi) ends practicing some modified taekwon do wearing black in name of the bujinkan, ninjutsu, etc.
Bravo! keep moving, you're doing good! would say some senseis before they broke your bones.
don't say anything, because they will insult you if you do. they don't wanna know the opinion of someone how knows. they surelly think they are perfect, so don't waste your time.
nice music & video bro ;)

you do realise that anyone/student of Ninjustsu, once having achieved a certain level of ability, trains in a places you are never gonna even see, or know about.. FACT. I may point out that what you are seeing here is known as "tai juitsu".. or unarmed combat... a picee of the system.. a good example is laugh at is when i hear comments re ; a ninja wouldnt last long in the cage,, a ninja pratiscing his art corretly, purely wouldn't even be see, take his opponent out with ,for instance, a weapon,
boazandjiacinth 1 year ago
@boazandjiacinth
Arteanor 1 year ago
there is only 1 martial art tht can defeat or at least equally mach ninjutsu and thts shoalin kung fu thts the only 1 tht can match it i do like a lot of ninjutsu but there is a limit to the speed and acuracy which you dnt get with kung im a big fan of both martial arts ninjutsu has its stealth and balance but shaolin kung fu has blinding speed 3 times faster than a snake strike and a strike tht is a lot more devistating than the ninjutsu death strike and is illegal even to name wivout training
lionsexlover 1 year ago
@lionsexlover Man, here I will add 2 more arts that can evenly go with ninjutsu or shaolin... 1 - Muay Thai, 2 - Sambo... And when it comes do defense, no art can match aikido... trust me, I've been practicing martial arts since I was 4 years old. The two arts you mentioned sure are powerful but there are others quite as powerful when executed in a right manner.
MartialArtist991 1 year ago
@MartialArtist991 That can be said for any martial art, It completely lies in the capacity for the student to realize the technique.

you see the problem with these type of videos are they all seem to be putting their arms legs & whatever else right where the other guy needs them. why dont they show a real one on one fight, where the other guy dosnt know what the other guys gunna do. these do nothing to promote your fighting style but make everyone who watches them laugh.
hansgruber88 1 year ago
Ok everyone on here who is saying this is not authentic needs to respectfully shut up. the key to understanding this statement is to know the difference between authentic and traditional. traditional means you are still going by the "old way" Authentic means its the real deal. So, this video is a perfect example of "Authentic Ninjutsu" because if there is a need for ninjas today this would be some of the more modernized things they would train in. its authentic because this is modern ninjutsu.

NIINPO 1 year ago
Brian McCarthy chose to break away from Hatsumi and the Bujinkan 15 or so years ago so he or no one who trains under him has the right to say that they are practicing ninjutsu. It is time for BBD people to stop wearing the Bujinkan symbol (the Bujinkan as you know is Hatsumis organisation)
NIINPO 1 year ago
0208444 you are either mistaken or confused in your definition of ninjutsu, our only known definition is what Hatsumi shows and tells us, to know that you have to train with him and listen to him personally, as a great many people do today, not state what you think was said and done in years gone by.
NIINPO 1 year ago
our only definition comes from hatsumi?
get fucking real retard.
that leaves you looking foolish for ignoring the real ninja Fujita Seiko, you know, the one that was authenticated by the koryu societies hatsumi wants to get into....
ah and the historical record, we have 17th century documents with the term ninjutsu, and it is used exclusively to refer to the techniuques of espionage in the scrolls...
that means you cannot redefine ninjutsu as you please. thats moving the goalpost,
Creationsofmyown 1 year ago
Creationsofmyown your use of swear words and rudeness says it all about you and your philosophy, you are not coming from a very good place I suggest you take a look at your outlook on life.
NIINPO 1 year ago
What I was referring to is the fact that Hatsumi is alive and you can talk and listen to him personally, as I have, he is a direct descendant of previous grandmaster receiving oral information, verified in many places, he will explain to anyone who wants to listen what Ninjutsu is, but we dont need to go into that here, research for yourself. Fujita Seiko died I believe in 1966.
NIINPO 1 year ago
takamatsu toshitsugu was never a grandmaster of ninjutsu...
bugei ryuha daijiten 3rd edition, watatani kiyoshe includes a personal anecdote of takamatsu telling him that he made up his "ninpo" ryu from "ninja-gokko" (childhood ninja games)
there is also the fact that historically ninjutsu was never a martial art. therefore hatsumi is the ONLY person to ever claim that to the koryu boards... no wonder he got laughed out....
go read the scrolls then come try to test me kid.
Creationsofmyown 1 year ago
Bugei Ryuha Daijiten recognises Togakure-ryū as a legitimate koryu bujutsu school and there is no debate that the Togakure-ryū is a ninjutsu school and that Takamatsu was the grandmaster and Hatsumi is. But you will believe what you want to belive what ever the evednce put infront of you is, the truth is it doesnt matter, you and I could go to Japan research the history books, determine exactly where and when ninjutsu was written down, ......
NIINPO 1 year ago
verify who defined it and who passed it onto who and test people today to see if what they are practicing is the same as then, this still wouldnt get us anywhere. Firstly due to its nature not much was written done Secondly It doesnt matter what you call it. Why this video annoys me is the BBD are claiming to teach what Hatsumi taught Brian, which it is not. .....
NIINPO 1 year ago
The important thing is to be honest to yourself are you studying a martial art that you think will protect your life, having studied with Hatsumi for 20 years abroad and in Japan I can see with my own eyes that what he teaches is very clever, no one in one generation can make that up. Choose your path wisely, you could be on it a long time and make sure it is where you want to be going.
NIINPO 1 year ago
ok then .... i will give a different example of the situation for you...
i would like to introduce you to speech, also called talking. its a martial art that looks alot like mma.... and its older than recorded history...
i want you to totally ignore all you know about talking ( like you ignore the historical record [which is all we know of ninjutsu or ninja]) ....
funny huh?
do you see the parallels ??
your calling your martial art something it isnt... stop it u look silly...
Creationsofmyown 1 year ago
Interesting that the author of FUJITA SEIKO: LAST OF THE KOGA NINJA - Phillip T. Hevener, is a 6th Dan shidoshi instructor in the Bujinkan, I am guessing he has done some research?
NIINPO 1 year ago
ah thats right... the cover for the title of fujitas book "the last ninja"
i dont see what it matters that he is a bujinkan member has to do with anything...
im guessing he hasnt done much research... probably just read a book or 2 from fujita... i havent read it so i cant say for sure...
what i can say is that even if you can suggest he did some research, you cant prove he is acting honestly on it....
not that him researching fujita says a damn thing about him knowing about anything else

and to stop using his image and using the Bujinkan name (BBD) and claiming to teach Ninjutsu, especially to pretend to have some connection to the Bujinkan. What Brian learnt was a mere snippet compared to what Hatsumi has taught since and the likely hood is he has forgotten most of what he learnt.
NIINPO 1 year ago
Brain McCarthy was graded to eighth dan by Hatsumi. And that was in the days when Hatsumi used to kick the shit out of westerners rather than hand out gradings on a whim and take payment for them. The days when there were only only 10 dan gradings, not 15!! People should show some more respect for Hatsumi's original judgement. There are shrines to Hatsumi and Takamatsu in BBD dojo's and Brain shows utmost respect and admiration for Hatsumi.
0208444 1 year ago
Hatsumi used to say there were three pillars to training: Kihon, Kata and Kumite. I have trained with both the BBD and the Bujinkan and learnt a lot from both schools but the Bujinkan do not do kumite any more, and they very rarely do Kata or Kihon either. It is all henka. There is much I can never understand about Hatsumi's judgements of how to run training in his organisation but I cannot see any effective fighters arising who are not experienced in real fights, in full contact sparring.
0208444 1 year ago
Look at Hatsumi's old videos, read the old stories of his students (Nagato, Doran Navon, Stephen Hayes, Jack Hoban for example) training in the Buinkan used to be far more intense than now. There is no substitute for the knowledge and tutelage of the grandmaster but the BBD continue to spar and that means training with them will always give you a very important thing you wont get in the Bujinkan.
0208444 1 year ago

I am sorry if you study this, but ninjutsu is BUJUTSU, made in a time of constant warfare, and it survived.
it would at leat be redeeming if it had something of ninjutsu, the only part that looks like it is a parody, the rest is all western.
Frankykarot1982 1 year ago
