Speaking for myself (Sean), it is out of a deep and abiding love of Christ that I seek to parody aspects of religion and society. I love the idea of satirizing the commercialization of religion for profit. That's how Jesus is being "used".

Plus, I think Jesus definitely had a sense of humor. He liked kids, he liked some wine every now and again, and he was a blue-collar guy. He was a carpenter; he made furniture. So I think he'd dig it.
