  • I just found the Larry Sanders Show 4 disc DVD at Big Lots! Garry Shandling is funny!

I sang this theme song earlier to my kids and they thought it was hilarious. I had to come find it on youtube.

  • it's almost halfway finished, how do you like it so far...

  • larry sanders show is way better jk

  • Great show but The Larry Sanders Show is better.

  • What show is this the theme song to?

  • @Jmswlks The answer is in the video's title.

  • @ladyjaye27 LOL! I guess you didn't get the joke.

  • @Jmswlks Well, just wanted to make sure. Some people do have weird reading skills and lack of wink doesn't convey that you were joking...

  • @ladyjaye27 Okay! ;)

  • What's wrong with you people. This is terrible and you should feel terrible for liking it.

  • I'm reminded of the TV listing in The Guardian newspaper when this aired in the UK:

    "9.00 - It's Garry Shandling's Show - It's Garry Shandling's problem."

  • That theme song is genius.

  • Garry Shandling.

  • garry shandling show was freaking awesome back in the days

I should get the seasons on DVD

  • this is the theme to garry shandling's show

  • The song sucks. Garry Shandling sucks even worse.

  • i remember that show when i was a lil girl.my mom used 2 watch thta, its better and funnier than louis ck and ricky geravis shows.i wanna go back 2 the 80s and 90s,lol!

  • Let's be honest I've never seen this show but in one and a half minutes the show has used the joke of talking directly to the audience three times. I can't see this being a good watch.

  • @malcolmyui The show ran for four years, so there must have been something in it. The whole premise is that he interacted with the audience the whole show. Some of the funniest stuff I'd ever seen was on this show. Seinfeld and David lifted from this IMO.

  • @malcolmyui it's not a "joke", it's a technique. how old are you?

  • @alburtise old enough wink wink

  • I still remember the episode where a guy has a heart attack in the audience and i thought it was real cuz i was like 5 years old. That episode was so bizarre. haha

  • Best theme song ever! This song would randomly pop into my head over the past 20 years. I have never forgotten it. Love this song!!!

  • Greatest theme song of all time.

  • @sraven25 I agree! I got referred to this theme song by TVTropes.com. That's one of the reasons I like that website so much: I keep coming across gems like this! XD

  • My brother and I watched this show growing up. It's funny, I still remembered the theme song after 20 some odd years.

  • This was on Showtime before I....was born.

  • I loved this show! I dont think it was geared at a teen audience but I thought it was hilarious.

  • Fuck, 20 years later and I STILL remember this theme.

That's great fucking composing, you ask me.

  • Who sings the theme song? Sounds like David Lee Roth.

  • Comedy genious.

  • best theme song ever!

  • I wanted to lick Molly Cheek.

  • I used to watch this show during 1990. I have some fond memories of that year and hearing that theme song bring those memories back.

    Thank you for posting.

  • I was 7 when this show came on and I loved it! I also liked "Herman's Head" and "NightCourt"

  • This show was so ahead of its time.

  • does anyone know the other sitfcoms that came on before or after this show? i have faint memories of a sitcom that was actually funny but can't remember the name, and the cast was kinda unknown.

  • I am assuming you mean when it was on Showtime, right?

  • i never got Showtime in canada, i can't remember the network it was on....hmm, i thot it was fox...well i know FOX had some good shows like GET A LIFE....maybe there was a sitcom before or after that???

  • Get a Life was the early 90s. Only thing that comes to mind during the late 80s was Duet. Garry was on Sunday.

  • Shandling's show was on Showtime during 1986-1990 but it was also broadcast on the FOX channels because that is where I saw the show originally. It was on Sunday's around 10 or 10:30pm here. The other shows on that night as far as I can remember were MARRIED...WITH CHILDREN; DUET; TRACEY ULLMAN; and some others. Shandling's show was on FOX during 1988-1989 but because network TV seasons have more air-dates to fill than cable, the 1986 and 1987 SHOWTIME episodes aired on FOX during 1988-1989.

  • for the show's final season, 1989-1990, it returned to SHOWTIME.

  • it was like the Seinfeld of its time

  • That's what I keep hearing...wish I get a chance to watch it, it looks hilarious

  • Hands Down thee BEST(!) theme song from any show EVER!!!

  • Don't get too excited about the dvd, folks cause they have it priced at $128.99 +S&H

  • Well... THAT sucks. Wait for the discount or eBay.

  • holy crap

  • Yea i remember this show wen i was a kid!

  • Can't wait for the DVDs. Thanks for sharing a piece of television history.

  • Can't that tune out of my head now!!

  • i am soooo glad you tube has the clips and to find out its coming out on dvd in like 2 months......i am totally getting the dvd

  • Classic material. I used to love how he would just talk to the crowd even thought it was a sitcom. I need to find the clip where he falls in the manhole...

  • this was the best show - I always watched this when I was in high school. I would totally buy the DVD!

  • the ping pong Natural parody is solid gold

  • That bald guy was a food critic on a hilarious episode of Three's Company

  • I used to LOVE this show when I was a kid!

  • @hdotcarter Me too!

  • Nick at Nite 2010

  • The Complete Series is scheduled for release on October 20th from Shout! Factory.

  • They really need to put this on DVD.

  • Loved this show. ^^

  • I wish they released this on DVD. They revisit so many things that don't matter for DVD and BluRay and miss classics like this

  • I agree, sucks that we can't watch this anymore, it's 2009 damn it!

  • You have the internet. You can find it online if you look hard enough...

  • My favorite episode was when Gary fell down the well

  • Greatest theme song ever!

  • i used 2 watch that show when i was a lil'girl and my mom always watch that show.

  • does anyone refall the episode that garry wore the giant head that looked just like him? one of TV's funniest scenes ever.

  • I love this song... the funniest and catchiest sitcom theme ever:) It's been on my brain ever since I've heard it, all of a sudden I'll start singing it:P

  • @dilmao - haha...me too! It'll pop into my head out of nowhere! : D

  • "this is the theme to Garry's show, how do you like it so far":) what a weird, silly song:D

  • Same here. I was too young to remember the words (except the 'asked if i would write his theme song' part for some reason) when i used to watch this with my brother, but i remembered the basic tune and its been stuck in my head as well ever since.

  • Is the Gary Shandling show not available on DVD yet?

  • This was a great show. It was really very original in the way that Gary played himself and how his whole life was a TV show, kinda like the Truman Show movie. I'm surprized that this show is not better remembered today, as I think that this show actually had a big influence on the best sitcom of the '90s Seinfeld.

  • The show took a turn for the worst when he got married on the show, than it become unfunny.

  • It's Garry Shandling's Show was one of my favorite shows from the 80s. I really hope they release it on DVD someday soon. I'd buy every season.

  • This was one of the best shows ever. I agree with with dillzboy and release the DVD set. Does anyone have any more videos or a web page where we can find more shows.

  • I would have liked to put online the episode this intro came from, but I'm missing the last 4 or 5 minutes or so. Nothing's more frustrating than watching an episode and not being able to see the end! Thus why I didn't upload it...

  • The DVD is coming out on Oct 20! :)

  • @hecmax I use to watch this all the time, this was by far the best show in the 80s.

  • please someone bring this show on DVD. I loved this show.

  • It'll be out on Oct 20! :)

  • I loved this show it should be back on the air

  • I haven't heard this song since I was four, and I knew every note. That's just scary.

  • the show when he wore the black dot over his dick....classic

  • Why is there not a boxset for this show!

    Much better then Larry Sanders

  • Whomever wrote this theme song was pure genius!

  • That would be Randy Newman.

  • Randy Newman's a genius, but he didn't write this song. Shandling and Alan Zweibel wrote the lyrics, I believe the composer on the show wrote the melody.

  • omg I loved this show

i was the only 9 year old who understood the humor

  • yeah, cause I was 8 and understood it. But a year later I was 9 and too old for it's banal self referential nature. That's when I started Voltaire.

  • haha gave you a thumbs up for that comment, toasterdevil. Dont know how you got 2 thumbs down, but as your 9 year old/voltaire reading self would know, im sure it was for the best!

  • Garry Shadling's Show, even.

  • Garry Shandling's was so brilliant.

  • Best theme song ever!!

  • I miss this show!!
