@gunnuts82 Yes Japanese tantos look similar. Hence the style of the blade. Which is not a sog or benchmade design. Also the toothlock has a recurve while the benchmade is rather flat with no visible or noticeable curve in its belly or blade

was a lot of controversy about this one on the forums.. looks like they ripped off the benchmade 950 rift with this design.. same thing with the "sogzilla" looks just like a spyderco endura.. not the first time this has happened with sog, either.. personally, I wont be supporting models that are blatant rip offs of other designs, I've seen it done in the custom world where a production company steals a makers design, no bueno. Get your own designs!

@ross2782 Hardly you seem to be one of those narrow minded critics. Who honestly could not tell a machete from a pocket knife. There are several major differences. Okay so they both Japanese tantos. That design was hardly made by Bench made. Oh and The toothlock has a actually reverse curve in its belly. The rift is plain and straight the entire blade. You a knife noob Bench made hardly made the Japaneses

@AntagonisticEnemy I never credited Benchmade (one word) with being the first to use the reverse tanto, but its a fact that the 950 Rift came out before this Toothlock.. You can't deny the similarities between the two as well as the similarities between the Sogzilla and Endura.. Obviously theres going to be differences, like the recurve you point out.. But my point is still valid. I'm not a "knife n00b" lol I've been in the game for many many years.

@ross2782 YEs the rift came our some time in 2008 and the toothlock late 2010. So Benchmade can not make a claim to have made the style of blade the Japanese Tanto. That is all that they share. They spine is completely different the toothlock having a bigger dip in its spine as well as having deep biting jimping. If your only claim is the tip and style of blade then that is a weak claim. Also One uses the axis lock and the other uses a piston lock with two teeth hence the blades name

Looks cool, but this might technically be illegal in Canada. It might be classified as a switchblade or gravity knife (which are prohibited weapons) because of the way you can open it without touching the blade. A case could easily be made in court that this is a prohibited weapon. So I won't be buying one, because I don't want to go to jail.

hey jeff, i got this knife about a month, and its been performing really fantastic like u said in the review and i totally agree about the handle being too rough at where u place ur index finger. as for my knife, it doesnt nearly flick out as fast as u showed in the  video. i am just wondering whats up with that? does the knife have a break in period? or should i lube it up? tnx for the review and appreciate any help u can give me

That's a great Idea to test a knife by cutting seatbelt material. It's one of the reasons I keep a one handed opening Victorinox with serrations in my vehicle. I'm going to have to get some seatbelt material and see how it works. Thanks for the idea.

Dude thats funny I rolled over in a friends a jeep grand cheroke back in high school and the car stopped upside down TOO!! we were drifting out in a field and one of the tires hit a small dip in the ground.  the windows were so crushed down we could only slip out the driver side windows. I wasn't wearing a seat belt, but I only had cuts from broken glass. yeah my buddy's dad shouldn't have let him borrow the rental jeep with-out the extra accidental insurance!!

@worshipthesock Here is what the recurve is for. Pull the blade when you are cutting something. The recurve seems to work like serrations allowing for more edge to placed on one area. Or for a deeper bite if you get what I'm trying to say

arc lock from cold steel. Jeff, Jeff, Jeff see this is what happens when you get away from knives for to long. arc lock is from SOG the one you thinking about is the ultra lock from some only generations of CS knives, they don't use it anymore. and unless i am mistaken (very well could be) the piston lock is that of the old generation of the SOG Flash series.
