  • @Thesupermachine2000 It was a bad approach, not a landing, the touchdown was far off from the ment to be touch down zone yes, but the greased the landing. i give him a 7/10 because of high approach and missed touchdown point (Piano Keys)

  • That as a good landing, but you should've set engines to idle at the threshold and pull up. You would've had a smooth landing and you didnt have to glide that far :) 4/5

  • I've actually replaced both the "Sink Rate" and "Don't Sink" warnings to have myself in a far more realistic flying environment

  • @timbo358 There is no given trim setting for landing, you must adjust according to power and pitch.

  • Good approach but you floated too long before touchdown and wasted a lot of runway. Overall nice landing though.

  • @david27peters lol, i think he was doing a visual approach landing. Crosswinds and other factors may have caused the plane to sway out of the center line...

    If it's ILS approach, it'll be near effortless...

  • Hey everyone. No one is perfect. That's why its call simulation to practice. Everyone here is acting like this is the real thing. Like anyone else here is any better unless your a real pilot. Give the guy a break.

  • I thank it is funny to see what people say. show's stuped thay are. (funny) But FSX was made for people to have fun. and for the real pilots so thay can stay sharp.

  • Thank you for someone landing in the cockpit view!!!! That's the only way i choose to land or takeoff since the first day i got the game. I hate when people buy the simulator to try and capture the expeirence of being a pilot and then switch the views to third person outside the plane to land!

  • @planeloveable Me too... dunno why it happens so often even with ILS... I never hear it on a real 747-400 landing (see videos of that on youtube) .. in fact, in reality, the 747 lands with a lot of information read out by the FMC.

    Ie, approaching 11, 1000, 500, 300, minimums, 100, 50, 30, 20, 10...

    Sink my ass on that man... lol

  • @planeloveable Thats because you are landing wrong, more than a thousand feet per minute and you are going to hear that, anyway most decents are done at 800 FPM (depending on wait).

    And also in real life, you can turn it off :D

  • @planeloveable That's what happens when you are descending over 1000ft per minute under 1000ft. That is why you must come in with a stabilized approach.

    i have solved this problem by deleting of .WAV files (pullup and sinkrate) ... now ... great landings without that ...

  • ummm, if it says pull up, your sinking to fast, and it says don't sink if your to low to the ground, before you are withing a reasonable distance of the runway.

  • sync rate, is the eleation u are descending, u should not exceed more then 1500

  • the dont sink is because you were probably comming in at a wierd angle, the pull up was because your plane was at a bad angle.

  • The don't sink is when your speed is too low to pull up without stalling, the don't sink is when you are going too slow and you are losing altitude

  • If you look closely you can see there is a strong headwind and as I flared 5 degrees the wind simply floated the aircraft down the runway... :)

  • @Cessna154  an aircraft will not float because of headwind it would flat because of a tail wind....

    It's harder to see that especially when 747s hav cockpits high up there... and... you didn't set any auto-brakes?

  • are you sure? its not fixed, its about fuel, passengers, cargo, weather, flaps, runway lenght etc... you cant say 3 numbers and thats it

  • I know I wasn't breaking 155 because I save all my original videos on an external hard drive and I checked and I was flying at 147 knots with a 8-36 knot headwind... :)

  • Don't worry about the landing speed. MBFilmer is right. Knowing more about the 747 than any other aircraft, I know you have to take into account Fuel, Cargo and Passenger Weight, Winds etc. Its also hard with the 747 to know when the wheels have touched down becuase its so tall. The landing speed of a fully loaded 747 would easily be 160 - 175. At the end of the day, any landing you can walk away from is a good landing.

  • Yeah, in general that is true...but in all reality if you land between any of the white bars you should be able to stop in time... Good Question!!! :)

    Those are the reinforced parts of the runway so the plane can land. Because, if there wasn't that the plane would sink into the runway in reality

  • That is true at some airports. At my local airport the piano keys are there for a duel role. First, for the weight restrictions for some aicraft and second for stopping calculations...

  • yes at my airport it built on the water with rocks and stuff so it has to be reinforced and yes it is for stopping calculations

  • hmmm... nice aproach, although you did float a couple hundred feet. Try flaring earlyer to simulate a short field landing :)
