Should we not have a say in public services like those, whether or not they stay? Or should only the statists who ask for bigger gov't and more programs have a say, such as the Obamamanics and Obama Dems in Congress? We are ALL taxpayers, Democrat and Republican and Independent. We all demand a voice in our gov't. One party or faction from the left, center or right cannot tell us what's "best for us." We as individuals will decide. The market will decide what businesses are best.
Amtrak should just be privatized, among many other unnecessary or inefficient government services, like NPR and PBS. I mean, if there's no market for these things, why keep them running?? The "public service" argument falls flat if most of the people really don't give 2 shits so much so that it needs government funding to stay alive. If NPR and PBS truly are viable options in the market, people will let them live in the private sector and tune in. It's so simple.
And the Democratic and other statist government jerkoffs who insist that we "need" NPR and PBS to combat some "bad" talk radio really need to stop being so goddamn arrogant and telling us what's 'good' radio or tv and what's not. The people will decide. That kind of central planning, propping up failing tv and radio stations out of some notion of "public good", is little more than socialist. Yes, I said it. What about taxpayers who really don't care for npr and pbs, like myself?
