Heard her sing this role at the Michigan Opera Theater's Marriage of Figaro last Saturday. She was the highlight of the opera. I'm sure I wasn't the only one brought to tears by "Dove Sono." I look forward to hearing her again!
Really? I think they took it a little fast. Also the accompanist is not being tender enough with this; it sounds like she's having to compete with him.@gabrielleaviva
@TEgnoto89 I agree with you re the pianist.I wasn't too keen on the pulling around of the rhythm and generall unevenness.Perhaps, a misguided attempt at expressivemess which he really doesn't possess naturally. The singer is really very talented and to sing this role of a really mature and worldly woman so well at such a young age is very impressive;Excellent voice.More insight into the dramatic implications of this role might encourage the use of more colours in the voice Otherwise lovely!
During the Golden Period of Singing, singers NEVER covered their tones. This young lady would be well put to listen to the singers of that era because she has a good instrument.
the pianist needs to not bang on the piano,She is definetely a soprano but with a richer voice! My voice is similar and people say Oh waht a beautiful contralto voice! But as she age and gets more technique she is going to blow people away!
Brava ! Gorgeous dark full tone getting clearer in the upper register; very good singing sul fiato, very well sustained; very good projection and placement all throughout the range; perfect stylistic adequation to Mozart. A thrilling performance. Congratulations !
You think she's a mezzo? You have to hear her live. I heard her do "Ain't It A Pretty Night" and it's pretty clear that she's a soprano. Also, if I'm not mistaken, she made it to the finals of the Met Auditions last year.
Fantastic. I'm singing this air myself but I have loads of problems with it, even though my teacher thinks it shouldn't be a problem for me. I'll listen to your version a lot, maybe that helps. Thanks!
Oh my gosh, I totally attended the BYU production of this opera... which is saying something, as I live in California! I take it you were in one of the casts! I didn't see your cast, sadly... although the other one was excellent as well.
WOW!!! Incredible! I take from the same teacher(s) and I'm really glad to see how incredible his...or her...or their other students are!!! You are absolutely fantastic.

The start of Act II in Figaro has a long instrumental before Contessa's aria begins.

It was in a stadium essentially - a basketball arena at the university weekly devotional. Seeing her do Suor Angelica at BYU was life-changing.

Does sound like a mezzo- but many singers can successfully sing more than 1 voice type- excellent talent-good luck!-
( good mezzos are more rare)

This is gorgeous.
You have such control over your voice.
I'd also like to compliment the pianist for giving her room to breathe and sing freely.
