cmon, you can't deny that dead world is comparable. Besides, whats wrong with sounding like godflesh? I thought godflesh sounded like Swan when I first heard them.
I have 2 Deadworld albums, this and Thanatos Descends. Good stuff.
I have 1 Godflesh album, "Selfless". It has a couple good songs, but honestly, most of the album is EXTREMELY MONOTONOUS. If someone else here could assure me that the rest of their stuff isn't as bad (boring) as that album, I'd be willing to check out more of their stuff. Knowing that I didn't like "Selfless", what Godflesh would you recommend. Later stuff? Or do you think I just wouldn't like their other albums, either?
@DarthMohammed you just DONT understand the godflesh's drama. too young probably? you know jkbroadrick from gflesh WHO is?!!!
skin chamber, fall of because, ice, god, final, scorn,slab!....that's industrial dude! and look for "cold world" from godflesh, or "slavestate" they still sound pretty ahead.
without skinny puppy or godlfesh, better napalm death marylin manson would just doesnt exist.

@DarthMohammed Godflesh really changed in the later years, incorporating more more hip-hop and drum-n-bass influences. It's kind of the same old story with many Godflesh fans that their earlier EPs and Street Cleaner albums were their best. I personally don't find this true at all, as I loved the hell out of Hymns, Songs of love and hate. Don't get me wrong though, the first EP 'Godflesh' and 'Street Cleaner' were great, but the production is rather questionable.
@DarthMohammed I personally believe the essential Godflesh albums to check out are the self titled EP, 'Street Cleaner' and 'Slavestate'. As for 'Songs of love and hate', 'Us and Them' and 'Hymns' they are definitely going to be hit and miss for you, especially if you're into the more heavy side of Industrial Metal like Dead World, Skin Chamber, P.H.O.B.O.S or start of their career Pitchshifter(Industrial through infotainment).
It comes across, to a diehard Broadrick disciple like me, as a competent Godflesh-a-like but not in the same league at all. A bit like Diet Godflesh (or 'Godflesh Lite' if you will).
Godflesh has more rythmic dissonance to their sound and, of course, Justin's instantly recognisable pained howls.
@fieryfather Very true man. It's a nice ode to Godflesh but doesn't come close. Albums like Streetcleaner, Pure & Slavestate will go down in history in my opinion. Some other bands worth checking out for those who like Godflesh/early Swans are; Halo, Decree, Pathogens, Microscopic Suffering, Stickdog, Grill, Cable Regime, Nadja, Sektor 304 & Slab.
J. Broadrick does more music in one year than much bands in ten! Not to mention that he influenced a lot of bands, even Kirk Hammet from Metallica! Godflesh uses much more complex drum rhythms, the bass sound from C.G. Green is one of the heaviest and clear that I ever heard. Justin B. abuses from the reverb making very strange sounds. Godflesh is very heavy and at the same time melancholic. Hear "perfect skin" or even "messiah" and you will know what I´m saying. Godflesh is a legend period.

Godflesh sucked compare to this, I feel, and Head Of David was better then Godflesh, they should of stuck to that, I feel then even SoulStorm were better then Fear Factory, they were a better version.
Well, in terms of bands like P.H.O.B.O.S. they are certainly a precursor, but Swans, Head of David, and Godflesh were doing this sort of music several years before this band formed.
Aahhh,i miss the good 'ol days of Industrial-Doom-Death Metal, and I have always loved this band!!!!!

This is great, but don't compare to Godflesh.
Streetcleaner is still heavier.

@industrymonkey Why does it need to compare? It's just good industrial..Not like there's only room in the world for one band..
