Michael Grade was bullshit! He told Colin 3 years was the right length of time. Sorry, but one four-parter in Season 21 does not count as a full year. :(
Having seen all 6 of these things, I can see why the series was canned, while still quite popular, and popular world wide. This series SUCKS (not doctor who, this documentary). They have 0 insight into why DW works. I wasted my time in watching this.
the part with the water tank is edited slightly , when the glass poped the first word out of sylvesters mouth was " shit!! " then he said " get her out of there" , can be herd on the video more than 30 years in the tardis.
Nothing wrong with the TV movie, if only it had a decent script. Paul McGann was great, so was Sylvester, their costumes, the Tardis set, the music. The new series is a joke. Ive just watched a clip of Cybermen vs Daleks - absolute rubbish!
they should have hired some guys from hollywood to help out with the explosives..after Tom Baker it was down hill..Peter Davison wasn't too bad but the supporting cast helped him
long live the greatest tv show ever i love all the doctors all the companions all the monsters (well maybe not the myrka lol) and it just keeps getting better.
Yes, they could of. But would have been interesting to see how they would have done the whole Doctor as a part of God thing they had talked about on one of the dvds. Makes one think about just how powerful is the Doctor that they are not telling us.
I agree with Sylvester though, they were just getting there with season 26 and they pulled the plug. The seasons were short but they could have done a few repeats to keep the interest up.
They should bring a few more of the old assistant characters back like Ace since we never knew what happened to her.Shit this is Doctor Who so even characters that got blown up like Adric could come back if they wanted them to.
That show ended in 1989 they made Te tv film but then in 2005 it returned back to the screens with Christopher eccleshal David tennant and now the new Doctor Matt smith the elethenth Doctor in his new Adventures
LOL! Yeah, he apparently ended more good TV shows than anyone else in the history of the medium! And I believe his Uncle was Lew Grade, the made who financed more good shows than anyone else! UFO, The Prisoner, Space:1999, etc.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Russell E Davies and the camp mafia who run the programme now would never allow a middle-aged homely looking but interesting actor to play the Doctor. All their Doctor's have been short-neat-haired pretty boys. They plead that the programme is too demanding stammina-wise for an older actor but I fear more baser motives.
But agree with what you say, and I would also say that DT and CE both are unconventially good looking but the reason they were chosen is because they are brilliant actors. And Now Matt has been chosen for the same reason. :)
Surely nobody could think Matt Smith is a 'pretty boy'? I'm not gay, but I can't imagine that too many people would consider him handsome. Good face for Dr Who though
I do!!!! And I'm not gay either. Well if I was, then I would be fancying Karen not Matt..lol but no...I love his eyes! And his face is out of this world! But I still say that all three, Matt, DT and CE were chosen foremost because they are brilliant actors!
Who's the old bat! I mean I guess she never saw "Rememberance, Greatest Show, Battlefield, Fenric and Survival. Some good shows here! I actually enjoyed the 7th Doctor and the shows just got better and better particularly when they started to go with a darker Doctor. Thanks for posting!

What nothing about Paul McGann not even a brief mention. Even Colin Baker mentioned briefly about the then upcoming new series in 2005.

@RoseNoir90 The documentary focused on the original run as a series, hence why the TV Movie wasn't mentioned.

The writers had already stated that they were looking at older actors, but Matt Smith's audition blew them away.
And don't forget that the very first doctor, chosen by Russell himself, wasn't exactly a "pretty boy."
