Having seen all 6 of these things, I can see why the series was canned, while still quite popular, and popular world wide. This series SUCKS (not doctor who, this documentary). They have 0 insight into why DW works. I wasted my time in watching this.

Nothing wrong with the TV movie, if only it had a decent script. Paul McGann was great, so was Sylvester, their costumes, the Tardis set, the music. The new series is a joke. Ive just watched a clip of Cybermen vs Daleks - absolute rubbish!

I agree with Sylvester though, they were just getting there with season 26 and they pulled the plug. The seasons were short but they could have done a few repeats to keep the interest up.

That show ended in 1989 they made Te tv film but then in 2005 it returned back to the screens with Christopher eccleshal David tennant and now the new Doctor Matt smith the elethenth Doctor in his new Adventures

Russell E Davies and the camp mafia who run the programme now would never allow a middle-aged homely looking but interesting actor to play the Doctor. All their Doctor's have been short-neat-haired pretty boys. They plead that the programme is too demanding stammina-wise for an older actor but I fear more baser motives.

The writers had already stated that they were looking at older actors, but Matt Smith's audition blew them away.

And don't forget that the very first doctor, chosen by Russell himself, wasn't exactly a "pretty boy."

But agree with what you say, and I would also say that DT and CE both are unconventially good looking but the reason they were chosen is because they are brilliant actors. And Now Matt has been chosen for the same reason. :)
