  • Musically speaking, Darnielle's chord changes are often irregular, but because the songs are so lyrically strong, it is incredibly clear where the chord change should come.

    The only other two great examples I can think of of song writers achieving this are Jeff Mangum (of Neutral Milk Hotel) and Bob Dylan.

  • This is my favorite version of this song for the way Darnielle spits out "SO THIS IS WHAT THE VOLUME KNOB IS FOR". Also the "let me down" part; just the right amount of frantic. Yes?
