I love this pairing. SO MUCH! I think Light and L had an odd relationship...not so much friendship but...perhaps rivalry and deep, deep, deep hidden love? I like the scene where L dies and Light looks down at him with a victory smirk. Light was silently telling L "I am Kira, now you know this before you die."...so L achieved his goal in the end..being able to find out who Kira REALLY is even though he knew Light was him all along. And, I think something in Lights mind snapped when L died. ) :
