As of today, 8/8/08, Tyson Foods asked the union to reopen the contract and put back Labor Day as a paid holiday. The Muslim holiday can be taken as a personal holiday. This agreement will be effective ONLY for this year.

I have nothing against Muslims or Tyson. I feel it is being handled wrongly. The holiday should not replace or even be on Labor Day.
If the employees/union want the special day honored. The company should set a day, The people who wish to take the day off should be allowed take it off without penalty of missing a day of work, but without pay. Then it would be a company/union observance and not a replacement for a National Holiday

Trust me, I work at that plant. and I'll say about 85 percent of the people are muslim. That is why the votes were like that.

I don't live in America, and have no intention ever to move there, so don't worry.
The fact that America is the home of crazy people like you is the reason why. The reason poorer people move to the US is to escape their governments, all of which are owned and run by Uncle Sam. At least in America they can enjoy the wealth that was stolen from them!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
As of today, 8/8/08, Tyson Foods asked the union to reopen the contract and put back Labor Day as a paid holiday. The Muslim holiday can be taken as a personal holiday. This agreement will be effective ONLY for this year.
I receive and email response to my complaint about their poor decision to remove Labor Day.

Did the Union say "hey management, please take away Labor Day?" Give me a break. The union wanted its workers to have a paid religious holiday, and the COMPANY countered with a proposal to swap.
