"shit it's a tornado! we need to hurry up before it kills us!

    *gets sucked in tornado*

*other person* :FUCK U, U JUST HAD TO CHECK IT OUT!"

  • looks more like the suburbs.... Not the CITY of Chicago.

  • That looks like 80/294 heading into Indiana, right?

About 10 yrs ago I unknowingly almost drove right into a tornado that came through the same area ... I was on my way to camping in Michigan

  • That's not chicago. That's the suburbs.

  • lol never new that was there :D

  • thats the way going to chicago i went that way be4

  • thats on my b-day

  • oh sh**

  • where in chicago was this

  • @hannahbiggestfan1 southwest burbs starting in Wilmington heading north east to I ndiana

  • Cool, the windy City. Vancouver's BC's better though.

  • Wow!!!!! What a massive wall cloud!!

  • OMG that's crazy pissed cloud awesome video

  • i live in chicago i hate the damn walls when im on the ghihway cant see anything gurrrr!!!!

  • omg this happened to me when i was on my way to Florida but i dont remember when but the tornado went on the road right in front of us!!!!

  • nice footage

  • is that WLS 890AM in the begining!?

  • omg this is what happend to me my family was driving up to wisconsin i was half asleep cuz we had 7 people in the car and i was in the bck wif my cousin and my sis!! then the radio said some bad storm waz coming our way!! we were on the highway!! we almost died!!!! i think it was on july 26 or the 27 or 28 2009!!! scary stuff dude!!!

  • i whent to the beach that day to watch it it was nuts

  • Damn that happen when i use to live in Calumet City i was working IN Menards In Dolton lol. Now i live in LOs Cabos

  • i had to sit in my damn crosspace that day with no electricity. without elecricity no one could call me when the tornado was safe so i sat in the crosspace for 2 extra hours that i didnt have too.

  • Would you get pulled over for speeding if there was a tornado forming right behind you?

  • Yeah, this wud scare the hell out of me. I'd b going psycho. Ya'll r just driving like u cud care less. Brave. =)

  • all i have to say is OMG. dude i would pull over. i think it was spinning im not sure

  • That's a great video

  • obviously that tornado must've formed in a chicago suburb, not the actual city of chicago where the zip codes start with 606##, I never recall the local news reporting damage from a tornado in Chicago, Illinois.

  • There was a pretty big tornado that day.

  • WHY THE HELL ARE TORNADOES ON MY BDAY this was released on my BDAY!!!

  • great video!

  • What area was this in? What highway is that? 290?

  • I remember this one, my summer break had jus started :D Chicago gets sum bad storms sometimes

  • No comment but you serously need a G2 to drive in that kind of weather because were are talking serouis stuff here.

  • ah i loved tht day i rember yellin at my dad to come inside whn he was on the patio nd the sirens were blaring ha we have like at least 2 tornado warings a year in chicago

  • ugh tell meh about it. especially this one and the august 4th one. i was scared more than u think.

  • i was in the middle of this we lost our awning and parts of our siding and the wierdest thing was it was on the same day of my b day

  • omg

  • People video tape this and they DONT get out of their cars?!?! You cant outrun a tornado.

  • thats.... not entirely true. How do you think storm chasers survive? You just go the opposite direction. Or you follow behind it. Not that hard. People just panic. Now when it's only 1/2 a mile away and you try to get to your car... then your in trouble.

  • Yes you can. Well maybe not in Chicago traffic and maybe not at the posted speed limit, but storm systems don't usually move all that fast. I've even outrun thunderstorms on the subway.

  • You know whars really stupid?

is that people think that water PREVENTS tornadoes from forming--but NO they don't WATERSPOUTS can form on water and Go onto land!!! MYTH MYTH MYTH!

  • Ok dude. I live in chicago. This is common knowledge here. A tornado on land rarely comes near water. Visa Versa, a tornado on the water rarely goes onto land. RARELY. I saw waterspouts last year in South Haven, MI, when we were up in our lake house. The waterspouts broke up when they hit land.

  • had no memory of that happening

  • that was a scary day.

  • lol it was on my birthday

  • @chocolate45689 same here lol

  • @chocolate45689 that must suck

  • tornados can be unpredictable and it can change its coarse at any moment so storm chasing is very risky

  • i will never forget that day

  • i watched this tornado from my sister's kitchen window

  • That was so scary!

I was like freaking out that day! THE DAY AFTER SCHOOL GOT OUT so everyone is like at the pool that day, including me, and i had to call my friend to tell her not to come, we're evacuated! it was scary!

  • why did you keep going towards it? how did you know you weren't in its path?

  • cause he is just that good

  • ive been searching for a vid of this i was in it i was hiding in a stairway it was rlly bad

  • is that kind of scary

  • when i was a kid a tornado formed over six flags...first time i seen one..not last tho.

  • Why are tornadoes common in the burbs? And though they can hit citties, Why is that not too common?

  • Chicago is not famous for tornadoes......Are they?

  • Nope not this close. We usually get them in the burbs but not this close to the city. This looks like it was filmed on 290

  • i live in chicago, and no, they r not famus

  • lmfao that was a great day to get blown XD

  • oh my god i live in chicago i remember this, so scary but the august 4th one was worse.

it was actually the day i came back from my friends house we had a sleepover and then she went to walmart and.......

    ...................................so on it was...........

    unbelieveble

  • i sorta remember this

  • poor people they lost theri houses in food

so they might live in the hospital

that a bad thing that happen in chicogo

    illiojns

  • why are you in ur car if theirs a tornado warning?

  • Where the tornado sirens on?

  • they are not on cuz they went off a while a gon and it is mostly the us with sirens

  • Hahaha there's a fucking tornado forming and they talk about Politics.. Typical.

  • The Windy City now has two definitions lol

  • @BoxerTwoZero prob serius xm

  • @BoxerTwoZero ale ty jestes glupi

  • @BoxerTwoZero It only formed BECAUSE they were talking about politics lol

  • i agree

  • I like how the driver is like "uhh..."

Anyways, too bad they put all those goddamn walls up on the sides of the expressway over the past couple years. They totally fuck up the view of the neighborhoods and now even tornadoes!

Whoever decided to build these damn walls all over the country needs to get lynched.

  • Lol Chuck Norris is not scared of evrything , but the tornado was so close to the cameraman

  • 80-94 into illinois.

  • Thats in ritchon park!

  • ahhhhhh shit i thik!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • June 7 is my birthday

  • wow thats on 55 right?

  • that's 80/94 in indiana

  • scary !

  • the thunderstorm must have been a very fast one. at the beginning it looks very far away, and just a minute later he is directly under it. its cool how fast things move by.

  • but he was also moving toward it, and at about 60-70 mph, and it was moving at him at mabey......30mph, together its like standing at a croner, and a car is coming at you at 90-100 mph, but how many times has that happened!!!

  • some supercells have been known to move up to 100 mph alone. just imagine that

  • true, but on avarage, its probably not common, i've seen ALOT of storms, and especially supercells, most were moving at about 35-50mph. but your right it has happened!

  • its like perfectly sunny one minute, then the next minute, you are having softball sized hail and flooding rains while a tornado siren is going, then sunny 2 minutes later again. your like "WTF just happened?" lol

i give kuddos to the midwest they got perfect weather (sarcasm!)

  • We sure do have great weather, dont we!!!!!

  • I live in Texas. They say part of texas is tornado alley, yet I havent seen hardly as many tornadoes as there have been up north.

  • Just go to Oklahoma in April-late June, those are the best times, but if you live to far, just try to get there at least SOME day!

  • I live in Texas too, and I have seen worse weather than this

  • There was a supercell which had wind speeds of 355 MP/H. That would scare the fuck out of Chuck Norris.

  • the highest thunderstorm winds i've heard of is up to 200. you may be talking about the winds inside the tornado vortex, i would understand that.

  • Unlikely. Chuck Norris is a convicted tornado rapist.

  • DAMN I WAS IN THAT. O_O

  • HII!!! xP Same here.

  • thats not chicago thats i-55 near joliet, plainfeild, and willmington

i remember that tornado i was camping in the woods and it touched dow about a half a mile away

  • I was at Cabelas and they wanted me to go to the back of the store I left anyway

  • I waz in this tornado

  • that tornado formed on top of our excursion and almost pushed us off the road! we drove directly through the forming of it

  • oh my god?! that was this year??!?!? i don't remember it! o___O

  • on August 4th,2008,Chicago had a tornado,it was sirens going off everywhere.

It wasn't really a tornado in Chicago, but it happened in Logan Square, but the sirens did go off though.

  • I live in Wicker Park and have lived in Chicago for all of my 33 years, and not once have I ever heard the storm sirens go off except on Aug. 4 of this year. We have a huge loft with large windows that face west and south and I thought the plate glass was going to come in. Our basement flooded, but no real damage. That might have been the most severe storm I've ever witnessed.

  • im a trained spotter and i remember dis storm. in in northern cook and we were getting slammed!

  • tht tornado was hell

  • that was one HELL of a tornado over here.

  • Politics more important than a tornado? Sheesh. That's enough hot wind as it is. Maybe they need to issue a political B.S. warning?!? Wow. Scary cloud!

    *StormSpinner1* in Texas

  • I was watching "It Could Happen Tommorow" that a tornado could hit chicago and topple over sky scrappers if the winds were strong enough.

  • Dont' you hate it when you're witnessing the most catastrophic event of your life (tornado) and they aren't even TALKING about it on the radio? I saw a tornado a week ago and then the weatherman came on and said.. well guys, we may get a FEW drops of rain, but that's all. DOI.. DING

  • Thats a wall cloud you vag

  • ah ..leave these city folk alone lol

  • that tornado fucked up everything around my place

I was at home when it hit

we get this kind of fucked up weather once a year around this time

but it wasnt one it was two

the first one was 94mph and the second was 113mph the city sirens went off and everything

it scared the shit out of me

  • oh snap!

  • oh sorry, wrong vid, :( this one i was at the barn. storms seem to find me now a days!

  • i was in wisconsin heading to my aunts cabin on the 7th. we were like 25 minutes south of westfeild and the sky turned like turquise and then it turned green and it started raining like crazy. everyone was pulling over. then we got to westfeild and the radio in the gas station said there was a tornado were we were.

  • that is one hell of a wall cloud

  • i was in summer school and i heard it

  • r u sure that was 08 cuz i live in elk grove and it was sunny and nice

  • yes, it was. Chicago was SOOO Not sunny and nice like elk grove, nor was burr ridge. it was horrid i was drivng thu it by cubs field.

Hey! was that the mix i heard in the background? Cos scared the crap out of me how calm he was!!

  • OH MY GOD that thing was fucking gigantic

  • i would of turned my car around and run for cover!!!

  • i was less than a mile away from the other one that touched down that day

  • is about 75 miles east the town i live as of right now

  • Richton Park is pretty far from Chicago. About 5 miles or so.

  • me and my cousin were like 7 miles from that! I think...

  • i would have totally turned my car around

  • i been in chiago and i saw no tornado there at june 30th it was only sunny cloud and i am scared to go there but some times there is tornado i think i am gonna come back and i might see a tornado!

  • pause @ 1:27 my favorite minivan

  • i luv those to every time i see them im like "mom my van!" lol

  • i lived in chicago!I remember this!

  • JESUS MONKEY CHRIST!!!!!!

  • some more of spc low risk day.....but nice video

  • why are people driving toward it?

  • i think thats just a funnel cloud or a tornado i dont know

  • There's actually a tornado touchdown, there's film on here from onboard a train that's driving away from the tornado.

  • my mom just had to drag me to jcPenny's that day, where the funnel cloud was forming. Thankfully the clouds passed over the area before the funnel actually formed. we were pretty damn close though.

  • I wonder if profesor Lupu..is the material Anticrist..cause i cant remember another..maybe ya shall knock him down..

  • profesor Wolfie..named Lupu..wanted to "make" god but he ..did sheer Satanism..

  • perhaps they are hidding in america..wanna try..i dont know how manny you have..they are my gift for the Claw..and the Snake..

  • no tornado just low clouds LOL

  • I was at Cabelas in Hammond when this happened

  • My fucking house was toppled over the day

  • damn ...no shit?

  • BEAUTIFUL.

  • Indiana tornado, June 7, 2008

  • that aint chicago at all thats indiana

  • I got the very edge of this storm. the clouds got really dark and the sirens were going off. it looked really bad.

  • why are u traveling towards it???

  • divided highway he can't turn around

  • a couple of days ago, there was a funnel cloud spotted while I was in school! The clouds were so dark!

  • Very cool video. Those were some NASTY looking clouds.

  • Nevermind, looking at this it looks like you were around Torrence Ave, closer to the IN border.

  • Where at on i80 where you when you filmed this? Were you west of i55 or something, because none of that looks like i80 at all; At first I thought it was around 355, but that's definitely not it.

  • how can you be soo calm?

  • Wowweee Kazoweee. I used to live at 75th Street about .5 miles west of I-355. I know this is quite a bit south of there but that's too close for comfort even living in LA. My sister still lives there. Hi Nancy!

  • this thing was crazy set off more then 15 sirens i was aswell chasing this beast got some great footage

  • hey while you driving there was a train crew that hade been on a feww hundred yard from the exact spot that it was in.Maybe you can find the video of them or i'll send it to you

  • this is amazing!!! i would be like so scaerd!!!lolz

  • Can you tell me which highway you are traveling on and which direction or which direction the camera is facing? I am plotting all YouTube sightings on a map at ArlingtoncardsDOTcomSLASHweatherblog Thanks
