Ok dude. I live in chicago. This is common knowledge here. A tornado on land rarely comes near water. Visa Versa, a tornado on the water rarely goes onto land. RARELY. I saw waterspouts last year in South Haven, MI, when we were up in our lake house. The waterspouts broke up when they hit land.

I live in Wicker Park and have lived in Chicago for all of my 33 years, and not once have I ever heard the storm sirens go off except on Aug. 4 of this year. We have a huge loft with large windows that face west and south and I thought the plate glass was going to come in. Our basement flooded, but no real damage.
