The decline is a decline in proxy data that is in conflict with reality, so he replaced this by the real temperature data. It's a trick to correct an error. The discussion about the temp-record of the past decade is open in scientific journals, and Trenberths thoughts are widely known. They didn't make up data and they didn't hide anything. What is your problem?
