You made the right decision choosing your dreams over money, your dream is much more important than money, so focus a lot of your time on your new field and eventually youll be able to earn a living doing something you really do love. The money situation will work out for you, that is something you dont want to worry over as it will only bring negative energies into your life. I guess you could think of it as a healing process where all the negativity attached to your current situation is gradually ready to change for the better. I think sometimes we try and do what we think is right but deep down we know it's not what we really want. You need to follow what you are passionate for no matter how good you may be at it. It is all about mindset if we really want to do something then we learn and progress and it all feels right. If it is not right then deep down we know so
I would blame negative aspects of our past lives for this. Dreams are difficult to accomplish of course and there is always things to knock you back such as parts of our old lives there to distract us and negativity to discourage us. When you have dreams you really want to chase you need to go through a stage where you leave that old life behind, when you are truly ready to make those dreams into realities.
I agree with you when you say your old life tends to linger around when you decide to make major changes or take new directions in your life. I often find we have a plan and we spend a substantial amount of time considering what it is we want out of our lives but not enough time putting that into action. I think that can be partly down to the fact that aspects of our old lives travel with us and we spend too much time visualising what it could be and not enough time putting it into action.
