Aleph One doesn't have survival, which was enough fun for me to pay 10 bucks for. Also, I don't see any harm in buying a game I love. :)

On top of that, I personally like the online multiplayer on the XBLA better than the Aleph One version.

For some reason, no matter how good my internet connection is, I still lag when I use Aleph One, while the XBLA, I have next to no lag. That is, if I'm lucky enough to find a game on the XBLA :/

of all the DOS FPS games I have ever played, marathon is easily the worst. Its hard to top its fuzzy look, boring levels, horrible, TERRIBLE weapon sprites, fighting the same enemy over and over.

DOOM and heretic are far better, as well BLOOD and shadow warrior.

I played the Aleph One version of the Marathon games, and those are some of the best gaming memories I've ever had, no joke. I can understand why some of the people below wouldn't like it. I mean, has the gameplay aged well? No. Would I rather play Half-Life, strictly from a gameplay perspective? Yes. But the Marathon trilogy still has the best pure story I've ever experienced in a game, bar none. I would gladly play those games again JUST for that.

Let me warn you though, the controls are very weird, so before you do anything in the game, tweak the controls to your liking. Also, the game get's VERY VERY dark at many times, so put the brightness very high. :D Have fun!

Bungie planned on remaking the Marathon games so they could link the two story lines but those plans were canceled when they lost the Halo franchise to 343 Industries. @ChrisCaelanThomas M$ owns the Halo IP (intelectual property) rights, and if the universes of Halo and Marathon were linked, that would give M$ a legal foothold to control the IP of any Marathon games in the future and probably the past. Bungie has categorically denied the connection of the universes of the two games, quite possibly for the reason listed above.

well Halo takes place in 2552 and the first Marathon game takes place in 2794...so by those regards, yes it is. also a lot of the weapons and ideas in Halo were first started with the Marathon games (including Spartans). but Bungie has said that they are in separate universes, but there are tons of similarites

Considering this game was made in what, the 80's, 90's, it's pretty awesome and I find myself playing it more often than Halo. Almost makes me feel bad that it hasn't been totally recreated in more modern graphics, but fun game, I'd recommend it.
