There's no reason to chew someone's opinion out Bassbartion guy. People's opions are always going to be mean or nice. There is no easy way of putting it. I have to put up with it every day and those children you speak of will still be the same when they grow up. People don't grow up to your expectations. Get over yourself Bassbartionguy.
I listened to the Wall-E version. When it is just the two guys singing and not a bunch of people the faster pace sounds interesting.
But ... crowds of overdressed people out on a Sunday stroll are not going to dance the jitterbug. I do like the more measured pace for the crowd scenes, and it gives the audience a chance to hum along with the chorus.
I'm at the end of a run of a Community Theater production of Dolly. I like the way this version builds in number of dancers, volume, and seemingly in pace. It is supposed to have a Sunday stroll feeling. Not hyper.
Well you have succeeded in being a complete dick. Are you satisfied now? This is a high school show. You never know the reasons why lines might be missing or why things are done differently. In my opinion, it was done very well. I have seen a lot of productions, seeing as how I am a theater major on a full scholarship. Translation, dick, I am damn good at acting and directing.
So props to the actors of this show! Well done! Pay no attention to idiots like the one above. They know nothing.
Well done kiddies and those that put on the show!!
Not so sure why people are caring so much about what's wrong with it...it's a school thing and it was meant for parents and friends to enjoy, NOT to mention to give the kids an opportunity to perform!!! Yikes people! take it easy!
It is true...everybody is a critic...I agree...you dont like it...Turn it off...people tend to critsize other to make themselves feel better about themselves...It goes to the old saying that there are types of people out there that in order for them to shine they need to throw dirt on others...the primitive description is ...Losers!!!
Why do people always come on youtube and trash other people's performances under the guise of "constructive criticism"? There isn't a single person out there who gives a flip how much better your production might have been. When you little kids grow up and become directors THEN maybe you'll have some credentials to offer criticisms. Until then, shut the hell up and keep your unwanted opinions to yourself. There's no point in being a dick.
I'm not sure what you had to work with, but this seems to lack a lot. There is obviously no set, as established, the tempo is too slow, the choreography sucks... Sorry to put you down, but I couldn't help it. Maybe noticing these things will help in the future for you or the school.
Give the kids a BREAK!! I've seen much better and much worse. And I've yet to see any of your Tony Award highschool performances up on you tube...It's so easy to be an arm chair critic.....Not so easy to be a highschool performer!!
I'm not sure what you had to work with, but this seems to lack a lot. There is obviously no set, as established, the tempo is too slow, the choreography lacks. It seems like you have nice facilities and you don't make use of them. Plus, at the end you started doing a trin like dance but then just walked off stage, somewhat her-like as well. Sorry to put you down, but I couldn't help it. Maybe noticing these things will help in the future for you or the school.
This sounds really... slow? It's like someone took the tempo and screwed it up to be twice as long... yes, stronger voices are needed, and the lack of choreography's been mentioned already, but other than that it's pretty cute.
Sometimes, staged versions of musicals require slower tempos in order to keep the timing right. Even in professional performances they'll often slow the tempo right down.
whoever directed this show needs to KNOW WHAT TEMPO IS!! Its written above the grand staff.. this is not Largo!! Not a funeral march! It should be around 120-140 not 80.. ruint the whole act! but good singers
Wow. We were so out of tune at the end it's sad. And I agree. There were only a few people who really cared, let alone who were talented in the singing/dancing field. It's really weird to watch it from this perspective. D:
The song seems in toon, but the people on stage dont seem to be into it at all! And the stage could MAGORLY use more scenery!! It is lagging a bit, needs to be a little bit faster. But the outfits look really good!
It seems like you guys had a ton of room on stage, and yet did not take proper advantage of it. The stage itself looks rather plain, and the amount of people singing and dancing is severely lacking for such a momentous show as Hello Dolly... The singing is also rather unenthusiastic and also lagging - Sunday Clothes should be sharp, precise, and filled with excitement. But I was falling asleep in this scene. This could have been done much better.
i think your stage is bigger than our school's stage. not fair. *pouts* ours is so small that it can barely fit 8 people dancing side-by-side across the stage.
Staged much better than "It takes a woman," the singing is a little soft, though. But the staging is good, until 1:25...everyone just stands there. The last few seconds weren't strong. But this is better than "It takes a woman."
Some ral harsh moments!

I thought they were great. The singing wasn't too bad, the choreography was a bit iffy but otherwise good.
And the band actually sounds good for once :D
