I too believe that this was very special, but God is not going to give his spirit without saving them. Read Romans 8:9, John 14:17, Eph 1:13-14. The Holy spirit fell on cornelius and house before Baptism. I am well aware of all scripture that talks about Baptism such as acts 2:38 etc. Just leave for now all these scriptures out and just read this account, remember Cornelius is learning for the first time about Jesus, he knows nothing about Acts 2:38 etc
If Baptism is for remission of sins, then Cornelius conversion did not save them. There is no mention of remission of sins anywhere in Ch 10-11-15 and it is clearly stated in Acts Ch 11:14 who shall tell the words, whereby thou and thy house shall be saved. Also, why not go in order as stated in Ch. 11 vs 4
for salvation. Hear the word, be baptized and receive the H.S. It would have had the same effect on the Jews in believing the Gentiles can be saved.
@rejoice232 Sorry, I don't understand your point here. We can discuss this issue away from this site if you like. My electronic mail address is "dgarner74" then the "at" symbol, and then "hotmail.com."
In my previous statement the H.S. Did save them before Baptism because they had saving faith by hearing the word. Read Roman 8:9, John 14:17, Eph. 1:13-14. Peter did not preach to them after Ch10 vs 43. Acts 10 vs 47-48 there is no preaching, just a command to be baptized in the name of Jesus. He does not even mention for the forgiveness of sins. Look at ch. 11 and read 14-18. There is no mention of Baptism.
@rejoice232 The Holy Spirit was not given to them to save them. He was given to Cornelius and his household to show the Jews that the Gentiles were now granted entrance into the church (see 11: 16-18; 15:7-8).
Acts Ch. 10 vs 44 While Peter yet spake these words, the H.S. fell on all them which heard the word. According to this verse they did hear the word. Ch. 11 vs 14 states who shall tell the words, whereby thou and thy house shall be saved. The next verse does state and as I began to speak, the H.S. fell on them, as on us at the beginning. Conclusion, they heard the word and as I began to speak can not be interpreted as the very beginning of the preaching, if it were why were they baptized?

@rejoice232 They were baptized in order to wash away their sins (cf. Acts 22:16; Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38; etc.).
