I think he'll make the third instalment, when he's ready. His new company made their first project Shenmue Gai. Shenmue is obviously of current interest to him. After all this 2011/2012 grilling for Shenmue 3 by sources such as Shenmue 3. I believe it could very well be his second company project.

The guy who asked about popularity is a little misinformed. Yu Suzuki's arcade games and Virtua Fighter series are some of the most well-known and also some of the best.

Shenmue doesnt have to be a commercial failure. If it was re released on any current system it would do very well, especially if it was multiplatform. Its one of the greatest pieces of art in the past century. I doubt there are many video games that have such hopeful and loving fans, shenmue changed the world for many people and it certainly changed video games.

Why does no one ever ask "Has the story been planned out or determined in your mind, on paper or any other form? If not, how far was the end of the story planned ahead? If it was finished, is there any chance it can be released as a manuscript, a collection of notes or gaming script so even if further games are not released, we will know how the story ends?" Shenmue 1 & 2 should be remade in HD by....Yu Suzuki, Sega AM2, and Yakuza Studio. It should fix all the problems from the first two (small areas, weird voice actors, clunky controls) and add more mini games. Please Sega, let this happen, then you can make Shenmue 3

Shenmue is one of those games that was ahead of its time, just like the DC itself. Bring it on any console today and it will sell well. Part 3 alone would be amazing but a trilogy compilation would blow my mind. I never had the chance to play part 2 because it's so incredibly rare and expensive.

As with Mother 3, I don't blame anyone for downloading it. Neither Sega nor Suzuki are losing any money that way, all it does is raise awareness that people still want to play the game.

ive been thinkin about it.. sega have basically put shenmue style ideas and gameplay into the yakuza series.. its kind of like a spiritual successor but not the same of course.
