  • Can you download a Mac OS if you have a Windows OS, and if so, will it work for this?

  • @uconnjacob yes I'm running OSX Lion virtually on W7 through VMware and I've just completed the Objective C playlist using the virtual osx lion.

  • Type into Google "installing ios sdk and xcode on windows 7" click on the first link and bookmark it. In the instructions the first one is a link, follow that link and do the stuff the guide tells you, once done come back to the bookmarked link and do that. then you should have it working. I got it working on my desktop and my X201 Tablet/Laptop.

  • @S7347TH7 thanks

  • If you don't have a mac, it's simple as installing VM Ware or Parallels or similar software to emulate Mac OS... look for tutorials on youtube

    tiny (dot) cc/iphone-app

You have to type in the dot. Youtube wont let me put the link.

  • Perfect Intro..

    Thanks

  • bucky u are the best mate :)

  • what about windoes?

  • @bilalsammour there are ways around it, and I imagine they might be a bit difficult, but typically if you want to build iOS apps, you'll need an intel-based Mac.

  • step 1. Build a Hackintosh :)

  • dude in xcode 4.1 the tool bar has been changed so i cant find the library ... ???

  • I have to be 18 to develop apps!?!??!?!?

  • FOR XCODE 4 USERS:

No Interface Builder? It's built in to xcode now.

No Library window? Follow these steps:

    1) make sure your utilities panel is open (command+option+0)

    2) They is a small horizontal bar in this panel with symbols of a page, curly braces, a cube, and a film strip. CLICK THE CUBE.

You should now have the same items in this list as in the tutorial!

  • @watchforstars1 I suppose you mean alt+cmd+0 for the cube above the Object Library?

  • @watchforstars1 And there is no (name)ViewController.xib, it's (name)/MainStoryboard.storyboard

  • Lol I like your wallpaper :D

  • have you ever seen my smartphone tutorial? watch?v=t9QliEDoZCg

  • Can someone help me out? I can't get past Step 1.

  • all great iphone apps are here snappii.com

  • Is there any way to develop on PC?

I really love building games on my PC, but I'd love to make something for mobile devices.

  • @Sc2mapper117 You could use a virtual machine to emulate Mac OSX.

  • When you register and they ask for your company (and this is mandatory) do you need to work at a legitimate company or can you make your own up? Like a freelance one?

  • @chipoholic It's not mandatory, just register as an individual.

  • Please change your background. It distracts me too much

  • Step 1. Watch a series of 70 Objective-C tutorials. *Sigh*

  • my interface builder won't open when i click view controller. Pls help!!!!

  • 11 people watched this for the thumbnail.. LOL

  • WTF??!? YOU NEED A MAC TO DO THIS!!?

    THIS IS BULLSHIT

  • @Misteryman94 What did you expect? the ability to program for a platform based on Mac OS, without the base OS features required?

iOS and Mac OS are based on the same core software. When mac simulates the iOS device, its just calling it's already built in core features. Basically, to be able to build and run on Windows, you'd have to install enough software to make it so you could basically run mac os programs on your windows desktop no problem. but seeing as no such software exists, you can't

  • I almost don't click this video for i saw a sexy pic on the thumbnail..lol

  • Nice Tutorials

  • Very useful, thanks men, keep the great work,

  • For all of you without a mac: Download VMware + a Mac OSX 10.6.6 VMware image file, it lets you boot Mac OSX 10.6.6 on a Windows PC and than use it to install Xcode and you too will be able to develop iPhone/iPad applications on a PC. Your welcome ^^

  • @ricklamersdriel can motherboard conflict with MAC OS intel core 2 duo is ok for this or wat wl be needed for an osx i have vmware aleady

  • hi bucky,

when i double-clicked viewcontroller.xlb, nothing pops out. I wonder if I do not install the interface builder well.

  • @bitter1989617 he did the tutorial more than one year ago, there were lots of updates in this period of time (including the release of XCode 4), but usually no old settings/instruments are removed

  • nice background image :P

  • bucky please start a serie of android development turorials

  • i have an amazing idea for a application for the iphone/mac, can work for either, but I'm not so sure how to make it. I would really like to team up with somsone. Message me if you are interested. My idea is somewhat basic but also genius. It has to do somewhat with non-profit organizations but you still will make a profit and i will explain why. MESSAGE me if interested.

  • @rsp041333 Im interested, skype: bowersbros or pm me for email address

  • So I can build and emulate an app with the free developer account? But what happens when I want to publish it? Do I have to have a paid developers account?

  • @Javacode77 yes, it costs $99/year

  • well hello bucky suck my tucky

  • if you want to develop these applications on windows you should NOT do illegal things, like download virtual box and torrent a bootable ISO of MAC OSX for virtual box to make a virtual machine of. Dont do that.... that's bad

  • virtual box is your answer to developing this stuff on windows

  • Thanks Bucky! I follow your tutes and made and app called "Super Drum Kit"

  • for pple who dont have mac you can still do this just get virtual box and a mac iso from pirate bay

  • ahaha finally i can laugh at the windows users who give me hell for using a mac =)

  • @theMattmcdShow ya good thing theres a substitute for windows ha ha

  • has to be a mac. Ipod and mac are both made by apple. Therefore, only compatible with macs.

  • Not even the awesome windows 7 can work with it?

  • I downloaded Xcode but not Iphone SDK. Will it still work?

  • I need a Mac. =/

  • i'm assuming this works for ipod touches aswell?

  • Or step 1: Make a Hackintosh. Not easy to do, but that's what I'm doing mine on

  • i no have mac :(

  • step 1. Get a Mac. *Sigh*

  • @WhoForgot2Flush

Don't give up! You could install OSX on your pc! Its called hackintosh!

  • @wiigamer136 HACKINTOSH #FTW !!!!!!

  • @LinuX1551

Yeah! Do you have a hackintosh?

  • @wiigamer136 i have a macbook and a pc with hackintosh, yes i have hackintosh

  • @LinuX1551

    Cool! What are its specs?

  • @WhoForgot2Flush LOL! totally...

  • @WhoForgot2Flush

you dont NEED a mac... you can work around this. it was a big pain in the ass getting it done but ive got it up and running perfectly on my pc.. you need to do by virtualisaing a mac on your pc.

  • @WhoForgot2Flush

Could always get VMWare workstation and load OS Lion. That's what I did.

  • @WhoForgot2Flush Heeeeell no, Step 1. Virtualize Mac X OS.

  • @WhoForgot2Flush hackint0sh

  • @WhoForgot2Flush Get one off of craigslist.

  • Hi there, please help with a problem i have... Under my resources folder, i double click my --name-viewcontroller.xib file, but nothing happens, i've tried making new projects and such, tried over and over, nothing ever happens :(... What should i do or what am i doing wrong?

  • @TaiLNeT I had the same problem, just right click your .xib file and click open with finder.

  • theres about 455 mins of objective c tuts (and there awsome)

  • @mespelbrunn calm down... Why watch it if you don't like it? Let's see you teach! Noone likes Internet trolls man, so get lost.

  • developer.apple.com/devcenter/ios/index.action

Sign in and the download link's at the bottom of the page.

total 4gb of downloads so if u need to, get a download manager or something to split up the download time.

  • @mespelbrunn Shut the heelll uppp! and respect master Bucky..

  • @mespelbrunn STFU and learn if you want. Nobody is forcing you to watch anyway....

  • @mespelbrunn STFU why are you watching this if you think its so bad? wow, your stupid.

  • @warjak100 Remember good punctuation is key. There should be a comma after "STFU". "its" requires an apostraphe when "it" and "is" are being contracted, as in this case. Use "its" as the possessive form. "wow" must be capitalized because it is the first word in a new sentence. And "your" is correctly spelled "you're" when it is a contraction of "you" and "are". I'm sure you'll pay more attention in the future so people don't accidentally think you're an idiot.

  • @mespelbrunn Wow... I'm speechless. Your comeback is just...

  • Comment removed

  • @mespelbrunn You know your an ass hole right?

  • @warjak100 Yes I do.

  • @warjak100 You still spelled "your" wrong.

  • @mespelbrunn I agree with you about the wallpaper. I would love to recommend these tutorials to my younger students but the humor and the wallpaper prevents me. That said Bucky you are an awesome tutor and I have not seen anyone better on YouTube
