He's not really trying to be funny. Not all Let's Plays have to be comedic, some people just want to see a playthrough with commentary, take someone like SSSkinner for example. She isn't funny, but she does a commentary. Video walkthroughs are usually too boring to watch.

@LadiesAreCuddly I really appreciate the civil response, and firstly, I'd like to say that as much as I like ssskinner's LP's, I think her main draw for most people is because she's a girl. Playing games. On the internet. Secondly, yes, not all Let's Plays don't have to be comedic, but he is trying to make some jokes and failing miserably, in my honest opinion. ResearchIndicates is a perfect example of an excellent Let's Player, who doesn't even have to try to be funny to be interesting.
