I'm afraid that Gorchakova frankly fucks Gheorghiu in the head... she's a proper musician for one thing and could sing Angela (and Netrebko) off any stage...
I was 11 years old, when I listened this opera of Prokofiev, and I saw it in on TV. This one impressed me very much. Her voice, is so Strong and deep, her performance, makes me tremble, really awesome.
I feel me so happy to have found a fragment of this one.
While singing her last anon "SONO PERDUTO , she get hit by sun struck and goes bananas.. I was on stage only some 45 / 70 cm from here and had shivers running down my spine , that cannon voice and the INCREDIBALE acting we all thought she REALY when crasy... Back in the wings after curtain she asked SOMETHING WRONG GUYS ?(in Russian) When she sings.. the floor trembles....right underneath you own feet on stage..We did 5 performances. evertime the same me.Still a pitty she did not speak English.
I was on stage with her in Manon Lescaut during a Valerie Gerviev Festival in Rotterdam Netherlands.. When she sung Solo perduto... we all cried during the dress rehearsal.. She can sing and act and make belive even from one foot distance.. and make the whole place tremor on its foundations...A LADY by every inch , shame she does not speak Enflish . we tried to dance a SAMBA during spare time in the wings..............
She is certainly an incredible singing actress and it's a terrible loss to the opera world that she is so low profile at the moment. Her acting is first class and her voice has such expression and power and, whilst this excerpt captures her voice well, I would imagine that to hear her live in the theatre would be indescribable. I would love to hear her singing 'Otkuda etki s'lozy' (Queen of Spades) in person - the video on here is great but live would be even better!
US singers don't like singing in Russian, and native singers are expensive to schlepp to the US. Sucks I know. A friend of mine is Gorchakova's agent, she isn't singing any opera at the moment, real shame...
... and a great, very convincing performance of Galina Gorchakova in this very difficult 'monologue' of Renata, telling of her first encounters with Madiel, the fiery angel...
touched by an angel... my favourite Prokofiev opera, this is a great excerpt from Act I. The story is based on the brilliant (evryone should read-)novel by Valery Brjusov...
what a crazy and wonderful opera! and such a great production, too. saw it live, what an experience. tnx for this video. do you have also the final scene? so damn cool!

Selon moi, indéniablement, l'un des plus beaux rôles de Goachakova. Et sans nul doute l'un des opéras les plus puisssants!
