Not only are these lessons very helpful and easy for beginners, but they crack me up. When he does the brown eyed g chord and g'ing and a d'ing I crack up. You rock Justin!!
Im gonna order your songbook from the local musicstore, I hope this will support you and I hope you will therefore continue doing these wonderful lessons. Thanx!
Trying to work out the little lick just after the G chord in the chorus. It sounds easy but I'm a terrible transcriber :( I've got the notes for it but I'd need to play them with the G chord for it to sound good and I can't figure out a fingering to make it work.
Back to basics for me, even tho i rarely played acoustic these days , i'd love to learn that one, sounds awesome. By the way, great singing :> keep'em coming!
the part where you go c-d-g-em, I find it a nice touch to play the simple three-fingered G (1,2,3 finger), and go like this on the thinnest E: 3-3-5-3-2 (pinky on 5th fret, the rest is self explanatory). Strumming for that G would be D-D-U-D-U and then you go Em to get that open thin e-string. sounds very nice imo!
@liestol ah s**t I just worked that out and then I see you already wrote it. I did it a bit differently though so you play the whole chord like it's a Gsus chord (I don't know if it is, I don't know Gsus chords) except for the 3-2 part where I just slide. Also I added the little open 3rd and 5th on the 2nd string to finish the little phrase.
@liestol wait I found an easier way to do the second part, do the firat part on the G, then strum the first Em, another one with your 3rd or 4th finger added at the 3rd fret D second string, then hit the open 1st string.
great lesson always wanted to learn this one all ur lessons are eaasy to understand, ive learned alot of songs cause of you and im in a variety cover band so it helps u know alot of different styles
I love you Justing really you are the only one who can put the chords into the lyrics of a song!!!!! Super funny and super talented artist and wonderful and patient teacher. 10/10. Keep up the FANTASTIC work!!!!!
Fantastic, thank you so much for posting! That thing you do when you sing the song and change the words to which chords you're playing is a real skill :)
Also it looks a bit like your T-shirt is trying to eat your guitar while you're not looking.
dang Justin , after getttin my left wrist crushed in 04 and my thumb tendon attached to my index finger tendon( no thumb over playing) my songs have 2 b selective.you just showed me another 1 I can easly play. just keep it up and im goin 2 get a big head. YOUTHEMAN thank you again
Can' wait to get back home and try this. Which means I go to a guitar store first and try it there. Bought the book a week or so ago. Can't wait to get it. Thanks for all your hard work Justin.
On my acoustic guitar, it seems as though the strings separate further from the fretboard towards the bridge, making it much harder to play than on my electric guitar. As a beginner, do you think I should get a different acoustic guitar? Or is that just how acoustic guitars are made?
@unholyrelish there can be a problem with your guitar if the strings sit too high above the fretboard, and that's something you would need to take to a guitar tech to have straightened out, especially if you're a beginner. However, I would have somebody more experienced look at the guitar and get their opinion because acoustic can be significantly more difficult to play as a beginner and without seeing the guitar myself it's impossible to know:)
@unholyrelish This height is called 'the action', and it is usual for it to be a little lower on an electric. It may be though that your truss rod - a metal bar inside the neck - needs to be adjusted, to bend the neck back a little, thus lowering the action. It is possible to DIY, but I'd recommend having a luthier look at it, and possibly set it up for you.
@ZeliZeleny ~ just my opinion, but I have 4 guitars and each it a little different. Find whatever is comfortable for you and it may make it easier to learn at first, then expand if you want...
I still see myself as a beginner.. but Justin, another great tutorial! Im working on your arpeggios + blues lead guitar vids now.. youre just the best!
Justin you're a bally hero, i've been learning this off my own back for a week (slightly different chords D7 thrown in, sounds good), but this lesson it the sh1t mang!. top man
