It was a Three Phase Distrabution 17Kv looks like metal confeite was cloes enough so an arc jump the metal then to the other phase and arced out you could see a plasma ball at the end as it traveled down the three phases.
Never look directly at any high voltage line arcing, the arc produces immense UV Rays which can damage your eyes. Just like looking at someone welding. Ultraviolet Radiation burns the eyes.
yea that was crazy ,,i was in the 3rd float bendhind the one who shot off the confetti it was a sight..but we still row and put on a good free show for everyone..dont worry we all had to pay for there mistake,,
haha yeah i remember that too.. me and my two friends were at mc donalds because we were hungry and were waiting for the floats to start running again, and righ when we walked outside the lights went out. it was the darkest i ever seen outside. but it was really funny
i remember that! i thought it was neat, we were further down, by Duet St. and we didn't know what happened, but the floats all looked really pretty in the dark. what was it, confetti or something?
I was at that one too! It was at the Hercules parade! I remember because some drunk bastards shot confetti from the floats and all of west Houma was in the dark.
this is so still one of my favorite mardi gras videos. i replay it every year! geaux hercules!

Don't tell me, let me guess... Mylar balloons released into the high voltage lines. That's METAL, folks. Don't believe me? put one in the microwave.

I think it's funny how the first electrical arc replaced the "y'all ready for this" in the song.

Wow... That last shot of the traveling arc was especially awesome! Thanks for having the presence of mind to keep the camera rolling.
