@snyper1243 But the route 2 theme is the same one as route 1, and the most prominent place in that route is the viridian forest. besides in GSC viridian forest and route 2 are the same place (unlike HGSS)

Route 1 is a childish route theme, to make everything seem happy in the pokemon world. Route 2 music (also found on route 10, i think) is a lot more calm and peaceful. Virdian forest and the path outside (route 2) have different sound tracks. I'm pretty sure that this song is more renowned by people as the viridian forest music, as it usually only occurs in the area viridian forest.

I think it was used in the original red/blue/yellow/green too, and i'm not sure about g/s or fr/lg

@snyper1243 Nope it wasn't. In RGBY/FRLG the theme was the same one as route 1. In GSC the theme was the viridian forest one, and here it's the route 10 one.

i find it weird you all like the R/B/Y version of this i personaly think this version is better and since this was a trimmed down version it makes it better so what have we learned? give game freak just a little bit more time to make a game and you get a masterpiece plus this is a step ahead maybe they can go back to johto i mean it was only a main region for what a year and a half while freaking sinnoh is a region for almost 5 years

I guess they used happier tunes ie: lavender town for example because red passed through the locations and solved all disputes or conflicts making a friendlier area that needed music that fit the new mood of the location.

I loved this tune because it gave you a feeling of nostalgia at revisiting Viridian Forest but still a sad undertone since it's been cut down/far from what it used to be. Lame I know. ^^;;
