  • Great video. And a sad tragedy. I have been to Præstø a few time to get food. When we used to visit Møns Klint. I lived in DK for 7 years and plan on moving there again. Thanks for sharing.

  • a very sad day indeed.... I have spent a long time teaching seakayaking and canoeing, Scotland, Wales Norway, Sweden the US and of course here in DK... I believe that learning about cold-water immersion should be taught to school children here in DK...

Cold water incident statistics are measured from 15c and below... we have cold water nearly all year round off our 7000km coastline...

  • What a lovely video thanks for sharing it.

    Tom

  • Very nice in a bittersweet way. If I recall rightly, some of my ancestors came from Zeeland. Every spring we have the same tragedy when people get out on the rivers too early.

  • Beautifully shot video. I agree with Flieger about the camera. Even the light flicker as you pan across the fjord adds a certain quality. This combined with the soundtrack and the subject matter makes for quite an emotional video. My prayers are with all who suffered in this tragedy.

  • @AbduAnNur You know, watching it again I have to agree with you ... the flicker + the music somehow makes sense.

  • Really tragic that Arko, glad to hear there were some survivors, and hoping their conditions improve. Loved seeing your home town. Seem's that's usually the case growing up in a place like that and being drawn to the big city lights! Great music for this vid too.

    Cheers,

    James

  • I loved this video, Arko. Maybe a boring place to grow up but certainly a nice place to grow old... Thanks for the ride along.

So sorry about the tragic disaster, hope the kids get well soon.

    G.

  • @RequiemPipes Wise words, G. You'll be a fine old master of life someday. A master with an awesome collection of puffers.

  • Great video Brother, sad day indeed yet a very beautiful place on earth. I would imagine you have found menories of growing up in a place so beautiful.

  • @RevJoeyG Thanks, Rev. Yeah, as I'm getting older the memories becomes better and better for some reason. The heart gets softer, I guess ;)

    Thank you for watching.

  • Thanks for sharing your childhood memorries with us, it is truly a beautiful landscape. My thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this unfortunate tragedy. ~Herb

  • A sad video man. Thanks for the walk through the town.

  • what a great video arko

    tragic story

    i so enjoy your videos

    keep them pipes smoking

  • Hey Arko, thanks for the tour around the hood.

  • I can feel the tension between the quiet beauty of the town and the tragic events you alluded to. A thoughtful, moving video, Arko. Thank you for posting.

    ~ Charlie

  • @herecomescharlie Thanks, Charlie!

  • Sad and beautiful indeed, wow. I like these glimpses into your poetic sensibility my friend.

  • @harjoeric Well, I'm glad you like 'em, man ...

  • Beautiful, well done Arko, thanks for sharing :) Watching this video actually lifted my spirits, so thank you for that. Take care my friend.

    Cheers

  • @dagonet1889 Thanks, Andre! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Very beautiful very peaceful, I really liked it. I'd love to visit Denmark one day. Thank you for sharing, man.

  • Hoping to get there for a visit, I will usually travel to Europe for a month every year.

  • Thanks for the tour. Looks like a nice peaceful place to walk around.

    -Jay

  • What a gorgeous town, it has a very quaint feel about it for sure. Sad story to go with it unfortunately, but from the sounds of it the outcome could have been much more tragic.

I can believe I saw 2 full sized pickup trucks driving in a town with such crazy narrow streets. Are American model trucks very common in your part of the World? How the Hell can they afford the fuel??? "Sorry honey I know the kids need clothes but the truck is on empty." Madness. =) Nice video my friend.

    Ben.

  • @BigPsiClone Nah, American trucks are not that common, but I definitely see more of them these days (and yeah, how the hell can they afford it? Beats me!).

  • I know you complain about your camera Arko, but I think it gives the whole video a very cool 16mm-feeling. Sorry to hear about the tragedy.

Thanks for sharing a glipse of your childhood town. Very pretty.

    - Mike

  • @Flieger671 Thanks for watching, Mike.

16mm-feeling, eh? Yeah, well, I AM from Denmark. Maybe I could be the Lars Von Trier of the YT pipe community, ha ha. Put a little Dogma feel to it.

  • @Pipepoet Ha! Well, as long as you make it Riget-style and not Idioterne, I'm ok with it. :)

  • @Flieger671 I hear you load and clear, mate! Sickly yellow filter it is then ;D

  • I love Denmark and I cant wait to get back there this October.

  • @Daftlilly1 There are certainly nice aspects of Denmark -- we don't have the wildest nature, no mountains or anything, but there's something about it anyway. A calmness that I appreciate.

What are you gonna do here? Business?

  • Arko, thanks for sharing this! I have my pipe lit and filled with some Embarcadero after a hard day with only two pages outcome. But that's fine, all is gonna work out. It is such a strange mixture - the peaceful pictures, the wonderful music and such a sad story in mind. Very unusual, normally the sad events in which contingency and violence breaks in the human world are accompanied by pictures of disaster and cruelty. This combination makes one even think more.

    Take care mate!

    Eddy

  • @Ctz1H Eddy, thank you for watching it -- I know how busy you are these days.

Yes, I know, it's an odd combination, and to be honest I wasn't even sure that I wanted to upload it. But then again, I felt it could be some sort of tribute to the poor fella out there. Me smoking a quiet pipe. Me adding some beautiful music. You know. And sharing it with the good brother- and sisterhood in here.

Four pages to go? You'll be fine, my friend. I know it.

  • Oh man what a beautiful vid with a very sad issue. Its sad to think about what a day the last guy, the teacher missed. Sending him and his beloved ones my warmest thoughts.

    Thanks for sharing, old boy.

    Cheers.

    Jens

  • @Latakiajens Thanks, Jens. Yes, it's a sad issue, that's for sure, and it was also kind of weird walking around down there. I could really feel it in the air.

Hope you're well, big infiltrator, he he.
