  • wtf the red anf black is way better looking

  • Does it work with Famicon Import Games??

  • i have the retro duo no wires or controllers

  • Please turn the music off it's annoying man good unboxing though.

  • How well does this output on to LCD TV's? I know the original older consoles, in most instances, don't out put well on modern flat screens. But what about this?

  • I see so any way where can i buy and wont get ripped off

  • Its probly the 72 bit connector they sell for a about 10 to 15 bucks it take about five minutes to replace in fact there is a video on here on how to do so look it up

  • @magicianofdhs I know, and it was the 72 pin that needed to be replaced. Just wanted to start the video off like an advertisement.

  • You said your NES keeps flashing? There's a video on how to make it work without taking it apart.

  • I really want a SEGA Genesis too so I'll get a Retron 3.

  • Very nice Ill probably get one one day

  • whats the name of the song!!????

  • @o0steventon0o i forgot what the first song was but the second was from double dragon stage 1, third song is from balloon fight frouth song is from double dragon 2 stage 1

  • @o0steventon0o the songs are, in order:

    Killer Instinct theme

    Lifeforce stage 5 theme

Double Dragon 1 stage 1 theme

    Balloon Fight theme

    Cobra Triangle battle theme

  • @o0steventon0o The first song is the Killer Instinct Gold Character Select Screen Music

  • @o0steventon0o first song is from killer instinct ( best game ) of snes game :P

  • Does the Super Gameboy work with it?

    I'm just wondering.

  • @cutemimi25 yes it does

  • @ProjectReality64 I found out already so that comment is kinda pointless now.

There is a way to play shooting games on a FC Twin I've seen zappers for the FC Twin that I'm sure they might work for the Retro Duo.

  • my power apapter I got with my is different it covers up my outlet like a asshole

  • this should have been called the Retro Quadro with the fact it can play almost ALL GAMEs from ALL 4 CONSOLES! which the japan consoles have exclusives

  • where do you buy games? ive looked everywhere and there to expensive.

  • @jasonsuxbalz1234 kijiji and thrift stores,

  • @ProjectReality64 just cause the nes broke that still doesnt give you the right to call it a peace of shit

  • @devildude1255 there are very few games that wont

  • Is it compatible with all special snes chips, such as Starfox, Donkey Kong?

  • @Thevilman yea it is

  • @Thevilman Ive played starfox and donkey kong on it, heard mari rpg doesnt work tho

  • killer instinct ftw

  • hey man i have a question, i got the black and red retro duo (it was 20$ cheaper on ebay so dont judge me >:P) anyways what i was saying is does an nes game genie work fine with that system? I was wondering if i need an Famicom to NES adapter AND a NES to famicom adapter just for the nes game genie, and do almost all snes peripherals work for the system?

  • @penguinsnotincluded pretty much the peripherals should work except any light gun if your using an lcd or plasma. Havent tried any game genies or adaters. Sorry

  • @RetroJunkie2000 S-Video was actually originally meant for VHS, the difference is definitely more noticeable on an larger screen, but even an old SD CRT TV.

  • i got the gold and red one.

  • How come when i play super mario all stars + super mario world, it deletes my data sometimes? Any ideas?

  • @NintendoandWoWgeek Sounds like you need to replace the battery in it.

  • @NintendoandWoWgeek because it has poor S-Ram modification.

These things are NOACs (NES on a chip). So basically, it's a hardware emulator.

Don't get me wrong, they're a decent substitute if you want to play on your TV, but it's no different than playing on an emulator sans the cartridge.

But nothing will ever play your games as well as the original consoles. Period.

  • @NintendoandWoWgeek weird, dont have that game but when I do get it, i'll try out

  • where did u buy it?

  • @TheMooseProject microplay

  • ... blow the cartrages.

  • @firesword152 yes thanks

  • @RetroJunkie2000 I like that colour scheme too

  • they got to make a retro duo with component cable

  • @RICANPAPY27 it would be nice but wouldnt make a difference since the games cant output at that resolution

  • @RICANPAPY27 that would be sweet

  • It's $40... and you expected more in the CORD? lol

  • @BlingToYoRing I always expect more for what I pay for lol

  • @BlingToYoRing I only expect the best lol I want my cord to be gold plated

  • Retro Duo need componet cable

  • does it still work still as of 12-7-2010?

  • @ROTFxQuester yes very well

  • What is S video!?

  • @mortonkoopajr Just a different video cord other than AV or HDMI. It's same quality as AV though I'd say.

  • @mortonkoopajr provides a better picture quality.

  • can you give me your NES? i know how to fix it

  • @rollercoastermaniac2 lol sorry im keeping it for collectors purpose

  • The NES sucks the SNES sucks get The Retro Duo plays both NES and SNES games in one system this system has a higher compatibility list than the fc twin and you can use snes controllers with the Retro duo.

  • will the super gameboy work on this/?

  • @wesley12106 yes I believe so

  • can you plug a regular snes controller on that?

  • @diabolojo yes

  • Its not crap, it just 25 years old!

  • Can it play Super Metroid and Super Gouls and Ghosts because wikipedia says it can not?

  • @vansrok1 I think so, havent tried those yet

  • Too bad it took 20 years for somone to come out with a Backward Compitble Super Nintendo.

  • Where do you buy this besides the Internets?

And Buy this not YOBO because YOBO has shitty plastic

    well...more shit

  • @SmoothCriminalAaron got mine at microplay

  • @xXMethodKidXx

or you could just clean your games with a q-tip and windex

  • @xXMethodKidXx It's called smacking it, obviously you didnt know how to control it : )

  • i just got 1 today, its pretty cool and play's all my games with no problem, the only bad thing is the shitty remotes

  • cool video man, now i must have 1

  • where'd you buy it from?

  • In your opinion, which is the better solution to play games? Original consoles, or Retro Duo?

  • @thrillerman83 original but this is a good substitute

  • Nintendo Blink.... lol

  • @Cloudentine winks at me saying nice try bud, not gonna work lol

  • @xXMethodKidXx yea i know about that but just too lazy to do it lol

  • quick question: is it worth buyin?. and on a scale from 1 - 10 wut would u give it on reliablity and how good of a product is it?

  • @comptonassjerry22 i say a solid 8 because the controllers suck. everything else is pretty good quality

  • @comptonassjerry22 solid 8, 10 if it had better controllers

  • @ProjectReality64 you can use snes controllers with it correct?

  • do you think i should buy retroduo or fc twin.?

  • @MegaTommy11 Retro. FC Twin can't play Japanese Snes/Nes games and also FC Twin has some compatibility issues.

    Also..Retro looks cooler!

  • @MegaTommy11 id go with the retro duo. snes and nes compatibility is higher on the retro. lol MegaTommy11 is right.

  • i have a Wii, but I wanted to play some games (like the original zelda) in their first form. is this a good buy for things like that?

  • @DestinyHeroFlamer emulates the snes and nes really good. Its a good buy.

  • just got mine but my games havent arrived yet )=

  • @ps3gamer2221 let me know what you think of it after you play it for awhile

  • Now that you've had this for a while, any updates? Still going strong?

  • @trj156 yea im surprised it last this long lol

  • hey i dont know if u know this but u slid the games in but not all the way push them down right by the edge and that well let u play them or put them in and push it down and then slid it down and then forward but if that steel dont work u can give me the system and games lol

  • your original NES does not work because it needs a new 72 pin. easy to fix. 72 pins cost about 10 bucks

  • I have Mario RPG and it works fine on my FC Twin.

  • what is 's video'?

  • I'm from the UK and I was wondering if you can buy this in the UK or is it only available in America.

  • its really easy to replace the 72pin connector which is most likely whats wrong with your nes.

  • i was pissed off because i recently got the original super nintendo and it didn't work.

  • so if you put in 2 games which one plays ?

  • @anythinggoesjoe There's a toggle switch that lets you select which one to play as seen half through the video

  • yeah i know now cuz i got one :) i dont even have to blow anymore yay !!!!!

  • I just got it at Amazon for $40 tonight and waiting for it to ship to my house. Good choice getting this one, because I have two friends; one has the FC Twin, and the other the Reto Duo. The FC Twin doesn't play some games, but the Reto Duo play all of them at 99.999%

I got this one because I want to play Chrono Trigger.

  • hey, u made this video 1.5 years ago and ur still commenting. that is amazing.

  • I may take awhile but I like to answer some questions for others.

  • i might get this thing i remember the good ol' days when we all used to play mario bros, mega man, mario world, etc. and i kinda wish they would make this for other systems cuz i have all my old consoles and the only one that doesn't work is the NES same problem but the snes. genesis, pico, and even the atari still work i think i'll just get the pin fixed just because i like playing the games on the original console know what i mean gives you a better feel to it

  • where would you buy that kind of thing at a store

  • amazon has them for about 45 bucks.

  • i got mine at microplay

  • I was thinking about getting a famiclone like this one or FC Twin. But I was worried about reliability. Does your Retro Duo still work well?

  • nice video, i subbed

  • thanks

  • i know how to make an NES stop blinking!

  • i know too, but this is just a better substitute

  • i think the fc twin is better

  • maybe, I heard it doesnt play as many games as the retro duo

  • can u use the zapper on that

  • no, only uses snes controller ports

  • y not just use a emulator

  • Dude! your choice in background music is awesome!

  • lol thanks, gotta love those classic sounds eh

  • especially the music from Life Force!

  • I have a question-can the Retro Duo play reproduction carts?

  • not sure, I dont have any to test. Im sure it might work tho

  • I have a question, i recently found a box full of nes games and two nes controllers. unfortunatly, the nes in the box was broken. I was wondering if you found any problems with the system that are not apparent when you originally purchased it. Please respond back, because this looks like a great alternative.

  • I think theres a very small percentage of days that dont work on the retro duo. It has a higher compatibility of games than the fc twin. Only problem I have is that theres a green line that appears when I play nes games on it.. I tried it on many other tv but its just mine that does it. Other than those 2 minor complaints. This is a far better alternative than an old nes or snes.

  • im waiting for mine to be delivered... so long a wait

  • where did you get it imported from?

  • i live in Ottawa and its in winnipeg so not that far. The delivery was only supposed to take 2-6 days but im on the ninth day and todays sunday. so maybe tomorrow...

  • is it a v 1.0 or v2.0

  • i just got mine today i got a red and black one but its awesome except the nes games when i play them the music is kinda scratchy but its awesome besides that

  • ive had that on one game until I cleaned my cartridge

  • hm than maybe i should clean mine

  • i just revieved my retro but i got a few problems first i get okay music qauility and saome bad colour but other than that it is awsome i have the white one damn its small

  • normally when your NES starts to blink you just need to change the cart slot adapter lol

  • dont worry about the dpad i have one keep using it it gets better

  • Nice video. I just got my Retro Duo last week mostly for the SNES side as I have a working NES. The whole thing works pretty well. My only complaints are the somewhat muffled sound on the NES and, as you mentioned, the way you have to lodge the games into the console. You practically need a crowbar to yank NES games out.

  • you mentioned the hook ups for the sysem not working for the NES but the SNES. does the system come with everything you need to hook it up to play both the NES and SNES?

  • Actually, there is a new version of this concole, and the Svideo works with the NES. Don;t get this older model. The new ones are Grey and Black and Red and yellow. They have improved features including Svideo support for the NES which looks great BTW.

  • i have this exact same system, snes works great but i wont play any nes games.

  • where'd you buy it? I only see it on ebay. Thanks for the video.

  • at a store called microplay. They always carry retro duo and fc twins

  • do they also have nes and snes games?

  • does the super gameboy work on this thing

  • Great music.

This was the best review I saw on the Retro Duo.

  • Thanks retrogamer. That means alot. Huge fan of your videos too.

  • can you use the original SNES controller on it?

  • yup

  • I can't anything like this in Britain :( can anyone help me?

  • You can get them in Britain, just look on eBay.

Average price on eBay is £30 + £15 postage, so thats £45

  • kk thanks

  • No problem

  • Super Mario RPG does work, but nintendo made three versions of the Super Mario RPG. If you have the oldest Super Mario RPG version, than you will be able to play it on the retro duo, but if it's a newer one, it will not work.

  • i agree i still have the original systems working but in away this is a good solution for people who can't keep there old systems working

  • will the retro duo work with dragonball z and gundam because i want these two and can i buy that nes off of you

  • Will it play nintendo world championchip?

  • good question, I dont know.

  • It will play th replica cartridge for sure

  • is there an n64 version of this

  • no but that would be cool tho

  • wat music is that from when he is unboxingit

  • double dragon stage 1?

  • Dose anyone know what retail stores sale these? I really dont feel like buying one off line.

  • got mine for 40 canadian

  • Mario RPG won't work on the Retro Duo either. Trust me, mine wouldn't.

  • I tried and it didnt work

  • I bought one and I hate how the nes is so wobbly I mean I cant get any of my nes games to work but the snes is the exact oppisit so if anyone has any tips that would be helpful beacause Ive wanted to play them forever. Because I bought a new 72 pin connector for my nes it worked for a few days then it messed up.

  • killer instinct nice

  • can u connect nes conntrollers to it

  • hmm. I saw it and well the connector socket areas for the retro duo are in the shape of SNES controller connection.

  • Yep

  • only snes

  • I bet you just need to pull the blow cartridge trick you to get that old NES to work. The trick is that you wrap your hand around the opening front of the NES cart leave a small opening with your hands where you put your mouth and blow about 2-3 times, then insert the cartridge quickly into the NES, and power it the unit on. It's worked for me for years.

  • Can I have your old NES? I have the time to fix it.

  • Retroduo is generic and incompatible the controllers are generic. Yes oooh it has s video but YOU KNOW YOUR SNES HAS S VIDEO TO just have to buy the cords and the snes is alot better trust me

  • Just buy a new 72 pin connector, your old NES will work great :)

  • It's still not the same as playing them on the original console.

  • Can you put an original Nes ontroler in it

  • no only snes ones

  • does the s-video make that much of a difference on the snes graphics?

  • huge difference, especially on my LCD tv

  • i forgot to ask before if the s video comes with the console or if you have to buy it?

  • 1. if i leave the s video hooked up to the snes side, will it affect the nes screen when i play?

    2. what is that familer nes music that i hear? i know i used to have the game, but can't remember which game it was.
