birds of a feather was from 1961 and brown eyed girl was 1967. Joe South was a true original whose lyrics could pierce your heart (especially when you were a teenager). this music holds up throught the years and is still powerful.
hi= i think you were responding to my post...yes, the 45 rpm version seems like it will end (like yours), but then breaks into a loud, sitar sounding 'extra' ending...since i have his greatest hits on CD, i would have to look for the 45, but if i can find it i may be able to send you the MP3....as i dont know how to post songs

You are so right about being a true=blue follower of Joe South's music. At times, he sings as if he were giving a Sunday Morning sermon in Church!! He's always got a lesson to teach and they're great lessons I wish more folks would listen to and learn from them!!
glad to know there's somebody as big a nut about Joe South as I am. So many great songs!! Party People, Leanin' On You, Untie Me, Walk a Mile...all of 'em were a snatch of 60's Southern life. Great post!
@oldbeachman Hey oldbeach...Count me in my friend. I have followed Joe South for 40 years now and have never heard a song I didnt like by him. Great voice. This one is one of my favorites..But i really love "Greatest Love" and "Hush". So you are not alone in admiration of this great talent.

This was from the Amazon mp3 download. Post that version! iMovie or Windows Movie Maker work great to make it.

Great sounds. Makes me wish I could find that girl I danced with at the Princess Anne High sock hop in 66. Wow! good times are still to be had....

Wondering if this song preceded Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl". They sound strongly similar in places. One copped the other, certainly.
Love Joe South.
