It was something they did to kill some time and try out some new bluesy sounds between albums. Staley did a couple more tracks with AiC into 99 then nothing until his death. Too bad, he was one of the greatest imo. Always looked forward to their free give back concert at Gasworks Park every summer.

i think both pearl jam and alice in chains are great bands i myself like AIC better but thats just my opinion. all of the musicians in both bands are and were great it doesnt matter if they branched out to other genres or not. its the fact that they decided to make the music in the first place. that is what should matter

You can't force someone to become clean or sober. Once a person gets addicted to drugs (or alcohol), even if they quit, the desire will always be there to go back to it. It never completely goes away. That's why it's called the vicious cycle....

This song actually mad me cry. I can't believe the sadness in Layne Staley's voice. Why didn't anyone help him out? If I had seen him struggling and recognized him I would have helped him. He was dead for two weeks and his friends left him that way for so long. When you have money like they do, you kick the f*cking door down yourself. You don't have responsibility like the average person. You can do what you want, when you want and they should have f*cking helped.

Know your history. Whilst it is true that some family members were ignorant to the fact of Layne's health- his friends were not. They tried to help- but in the end it was his choice to continue. He couldn't stop.
