what if i have a numark mixtrack, controller, and numark DJ I/O.
would this be worth picking up? would i still be able to use the mixtrack for mixing, cueing, etc, and use this X1 for effects and stuff? also, could i plug it in my dj/io or does it go directly into usb?
@RooneyPatrick I also have the mixtrack and am considering picking up an X1 when the new Traktor 2 gets released in April. X1 is a USB controller so it plugs directly into your computer. If you're also using I/O along with the Mixtrack you'll need three USB ports to use both controllers simultaneously. Hope this helps.
@HypnoticCyclone it's a controller for effects list browsing and transport controls it's not to substitute a mixer nor cdjs or timecode vinyls it's to assist and make it so you rarely have the need to touch your mouse nor keyboard.
wow im sorry if you need equipment like this, your not a good DJ, like "a sync button!?" really?.... -_-! I remember when you needed a ear for music to be a DJ, guess not anymore
@PUREJOKES123 Manual beatmatching is becoming a thing of the past. Live with it. You have to stop hanging on and realize that being able to sync most tracks automatically in a split second allows a DJ to do many other creative things instead of spending precious time beatmatching. Let go
@r34ct u r totally right bro! i love the sync button<333333 :D i fuckin hate beat matching! i cant believe people think it is a talent or it makes u a "real dj"...i can do it in my sleep its so easy!!!!!! vinly, cd, fuckin whatever
@JAHKAMREN ur right its not hard,,,if u have an ear it is efortless....its just in my opinion the huge bulkiness and archaic form of th cdj's....if u dont produce music to sell on cd's why use them when u play live ya know :/ ? especially in EDM music
You do need an external mixer AND the audio interface ( Audio 2/4/8 DJ). Any version of Traktor will do if you have the X1 driver. I recoment Traktor Pro/Duo/Scratch. Only with the Duo and Scratch versions you can use external controlers like turntables/CD players.
I have a question everyone .. please don't chastise me on this .. I'm kinda "new" to the digital DJ game, and I'm gonna be mixing house music .. I'm trying to figure out whether I should get this or I should get the Torq Xponent. I will be DJ'ing clubs, and house parties in NYC. ANy suggestions ? Help
Torq is almost dead, the Xponent is on clearance at Guitar Center for $300 (50% off) now... I wouldn't invest in it to save my nutsack. The X1 + Traktor smokes it.
It weights about 10 ounces... so yeah... if that's a "brick" to you then you need to eat your wheaties.
The idea behind this stuff is not only to make it easier for DJs to use programs - but also to let the DJ constantly switch between devices to put on a "show". If i ever see a DJ just buried in a Laptop I'm likely to just leave. He should at least LOOK like he's doing work. It's as much about the performance on stage as it is the music. Get with the times, adob0, it's 2010 already.
Scorchin: Performance is just as important as sound. A DJ that looks like he's not doing work will be perceived as not doing work. Move back and forth from lappytop, decks, mixer, INTERACT with the crowd and your setup. Performance, performance, performance!
@SUBTRaKTR 1) i never lifted one so i wouldnt know that 2) it wide as hell it might as well be considered a space-taking brick 3) its 2010, serato is still the industry standard, so if you complaing about a "DJ with a laptop", you must havent got with the times 4) last time i checked, serato doesn't mix by itself. 5) you fail
Adob0 - That's nice that Serato is the industry standard - maybe people want to be "different" and use other tech. It's personal preference. Some like vinyl - some like MP3 - despite DIGITAL being the "standard". I'm not complaining about a DJ with a laptop - read my post, genius - I'm talking about PERFORMANCE, Einstein. MAKE IT LOOK HARDER THAN IT IS. A DJ just standing there hitting one or two buttons will look like he's not doing much. And when did I say serato or Traktor mix by itself?
@SUBTRaKTR "PERFORMANCE, Einstein. MAKE IT LOOK HARDER THAN IT IS." - when people go to clubs, they hope they HEAR the DJ putting on a good performance, they could care less how HARD IT LOOKS for him to put on a performance. he can just have two turntables and a mixer and still have a good performance. since when did the crowd give a shit how the DJ "looks like" he's mixing? thats the dumbest shit ive ever heard, "einstein". you definitely must work for Traktor, or just delusional in general
I actually remix live on stage using Mainstage (logic 9) and Ableton. I play keys live - I'm not a standard "blend n scratch" DJ. How is putting on a good show "delusional"? Especially in my line of work where i'm actually on a STAGE and not INSIDE OF A BOOTH? I think you've mistaken me for the "standard" DJ. I remix live - I play all my synths LIVE - I don't just play songs and scratch, hahahaha!
@SUBTRaKTR your reading comprehension is that of a 5th grader. and thats being generous. you are "delusional" only because you think dj's that "look like they are doing more work" are automatically better... the fact that you use logic 9 and ableton makes you automatically "better" than the "standard" DJ? what's wrong with playing songs and scratching? is there a hierarchy of DJs now, and those with the most technology are instantly better? DJing started with two turntables and a mixer
You complain about my reading comprehension but you STILL miss my point of "performance". Clubs I perform at have kicked out "lazy" DJ's because they are being put on the spot - the owners WANT interaction. Blame them for not letting you lazy folk file your nails while DJ'ing. I also never said that more tech makes anyone better or that playing songs and scratching sucked - I just said that I don't do that since i perform the music LIVE. Should I have a real 5th grader explain the difference?
@SUBTRaKTR once again, being "lazy" and using minimal equipment to do not correlate. there are sub par dj's who need the most up to date equipment who end up producing sub par performances. there are well respected djs who use the bare minimum equipment who are very well demanded and put on a great performance consistently. do you get it yet? you must either 1) work for traktor 2) need more equipment to compensate for the lack of skills you have in DJing. i have a feeling it might be both.
Hahahaha, no. I don't work for Native Instrtuments nor do I use Traktor, personally. My DJ skills r just fine - I'm just going by tips I've gotten from both Pro's in the industry (Bill, DP, Ok, Dyk, BJ, etc) and from club managers/promoters. The smallest show I've gig'd the past 2 years was only 1500 peeps. I'm all over the place and under a different name, sport. Performance is every bit as important as music. The sooner you get that, champ, the better off you'll be. Cheers, youngling.
@SUBTRaKTR yeah man, performance counts a little bit, like you can't look really bored/like a zombie when you're doing a set. however, NO ONE GIVES A FUCK....im sure 99% of the world would rather hear good music than see some heaps shit dj flailing his arms and flicking a bunch of knobs on stage,
hi guys ! i have a problem whit my kontrol x1! i have the kontrol + omni control from numark. and when i'm doing the midi mapping for the kontrol. the buttons and the knobs scramble/ mix whit the omni control's mapping. for ex when i turn a knob for the loops the pitch changes and onther things like that; any ideeas? thanks :d
yes, but the only pre-order i would trust is from NI. I already pre-ordered mine and plan to be one of the first to receive my unit. As time passes, i believe the prices of the units on ebay could be selling for ~175 ish.
How about putting as much effort into making the basic functions actually work to a "pro" standard then start to develop the hardware side of the program.
it seems they should still put everyting in one unit. How about a controller and sound card >have the controller look like a mixer and controll every last thing in Traktor up faders ,cross faders, gains,eq's. ..that means for four decks you would have to buy 4 seperate controllers, then you cant controll the eqs within traktor so you would have to control it on a real mixer,,sounds like too much too me,.. i know its what club djs do but i still am for a all in one unit
