@youtoubakias What they should do is disregard all the cartoons completely and go by the ORIGINAL Marvel comic book storyline by Larry Hama. The cartoons got everything wrong, and this movie was even worse. Cast the right actors for the roles; get Snake Eyes' storyline right for once, including his romance with Scarlett; Make Hawk the team leader since Duke didn't even exist originally in the comics; and give the action and storylines a sense of realism like Rainbow Six and Splinter Cell.

This is one of those few movies with en ensemble which is truly an all star cast working to the best of their powers namely because actors like this one were not that well known at the time they were working on this film and took advantage of their opportunity at fame. This movie was awful. It was bad enough that they deviated from the source material so heavily, but the movie's direction, plot structure and cast were terrible as well. Seriously, they did to G.I. Joe was Michael Bay did to Transformers.

For me, if it does not destroy a classic franchise and stands on its own I will only judge a popcorn movie on how much fun I had watching it. Bad popcorn movies include the Mission Impossible movies and the new Star Trek movie. GI Joe:Rise of Cobra is a good popcorn movie, and fits into the franchise.

@zandylovesrisk. Star Trek was not as well written as GI Joe and it did not fit into the Star Trek shows and other movies. In fact it was worst than Mission Impossible, at least Mission Impossible did not get any of the original actors in it to say it was part of the TV show. Plus, unlike GI JOE, it had an unrealistic and totally unbelievable ending.

I really haven't seen much of the original shows but I guess the blowing up Vulcan was really inconsistent with it which is why alot of people didn't like it. If you look at it from the perspective of watching the shows when you grew up, it was disappointment but I didn't so 9/10

@Trekfreek Are you sure that more of it would have caused a bigger black hole? Maybe they only used one drop because it was enough to make a black hole and they wanted enough to use multiple times for more supernovas. Kirk may have only defeated them by sheer luck, but it was still him who warned the ship of the Romulons, who was brave enough to chase down them before they got to earth and oh by great quick thinking, saved all of the admirals and generals on earth so he should still be a cadet.
@zandylovesrisk Wesly Crusher saved the federation from an alien nano virus(The game), he helped to defeat the Borg, and he saved Picard's life on a desert planet yet he still had to attend the academy. So why would Kirk, who as less experience then Crusher, should not only skip the academy but be given command to the Flagship? Being a cadet does not mean you need to prove yourself it is SCHOOL. Even heroes need education. A Captain must, not only lead others, but be able to repair his own ship.
@Trekfreek If I remember correctly, he was at the academy for 3 years, probably was at the top of his class and was the only person who beat the Kobioshyi Maru. Also in the original he was the captain of the Enterprise so they had to find a way for him to get it which he did by saving Billions of lives, Wesly I guess they never saw that he might be a captain in the show at all. Kirk defeated a highly advanced Romulon ship though it wasn't just him. Couldn't Scotty or Spock teach him?
@zandylovesrisk First, the Real Kirk was not disciplined for cheating on the Kobioshyi Maru test, but this one was. You don't reward people after they shirk their punishment. Second, they could have just jumped strait to Kirk taking over the Enterprise from Pike, they did not need a lame ass reason to give her to him. Third Wesley was on his way to becoming the top warp scientist in Starfleet. According to ST:XI they could have just given Wes a rank of Admiral and a team of scientists to lead.

A Captain also needs to be able to be part diplomat, this is a plus because of all the negotiations he will face when visiting new worlds. And a Captain needs real world/galaxy experience of everything he learned before he can take on the BIG responsibility of Command. Young Kirk only has battle experience, enough to get command of a troop brigade, but not a starship.

Black holes are the #1 destructive force in the universe. Why would you want to use one to stop the 3rd most destructive force in the universe?

I say they still have a chance to redeem this movie for the big fans. The black-one-fits-all costumes need to go,(x-men allready done it!) What made the Joes so memorable is each had is own trademark and brought that and his personality to the team-table. GI Joe has such a rich background story for moviemakers to delve into--all they had to do was consult the source material--the comics, the cartoons---instead they opted to slap the fans in the face and create their own completely different GI Joe universe. In fact it was worst than Mission Impossible, at least Mission Impossible did not get any of the original actors in it to say it was part of the TV show. Plus, unlike GI JOE, it had an unrealistic and totally unbelievable ending.

I really haven't seen much of the original shows but I guess the blowing up Vulcan was really inconsistent with it which is why alot of people didn't like it. If you look at it from the perspective of watching the shows when you grew up, it was disappointment but I didn't so 9/10

If one drop of red matter makes a black hole big enough for ships to fly through or destroy planets, Why didn’t the huge ball of it wipe out the Solar system? Also how many Military organizations would make a cadet captain of their flag ship just for saving the day once, out of dumb luck? Also if Commander Spock also helped why did he not get his own ship? I looked at it as a movie nothing else. 2/10

@Trekfreek Are you sure that more of it would have caused a bigger black hole? Maybe they only used one drop because it was enough to make a black hole and they wanted enough to use multiple times for more supernovas. Kirk may have only defeated them by sheer luck, but it was still him who warned the ship of the Romulons, who was brave enough to chase down them before they got to earth and oh by great quick thinking, saved all of the admirals and generals on earth so he should still be a cadet.

@zandylovesrisk Wesly Crusher saved the federation from an alien nano virus(The game), he helped to defeat the Borg, and he saved Picard's life on a desert planet yet he still had to attend the academy. So why would Kirk, who as less experience then Crusher, should not only skip the academy but be given command to the Flagship? Being a cadet does not mean you need to prove yourself it is SCHOOL. Even heroes need education. A Captain must, not only lead others, but be able to repair his own ship.

@Trekfreek If I remember correctly, he was at the academy for 3 years, probably was at the top of his class and was the only person who beat the Kobioshyi Maru. Also in the original he was the captain of the Enterprise so they had to find a way for him to get it which he did by saving Billions of lives, Wesly I guess they never saw that he might be a captain in the show at all. Kirk defeated a highly advanced Romulon ship though it wasn't just him. Couldn't Scotty or Spock teach him?

@zandylovesrisk First, the Real Kirk was not disciplined for cheating on the Kobioshyi Maru test, but this one was. You don't reward people after they shirk their punishment. Second, they could have just jumped strait to Kirk taking over the Enterprise from Pike, they did not need a lame ass reason to give her to him. Third Wesley was on his way to becoming the top warp scientist in Starfleet. According to ST:XI they could have just given Wes a rank of Admiral and a team of scientists to lead.

@zandylovesrisk Examples of Kirk doing repairs to star ships. Episodes The Dooms Day Machine and This Side of Paradise. A Captain also needs to be able to be part diplomat, this is a plus because of all the negotiations he will face when visiting new worlds. And a Captain needs real world/galaxy experience of everything he learned before he can take on the BIG responsibility of Command. Young Kirk only has battle experience, enough to get command of a troop brigade, but not a starship.

@zandylovesrisk "Maybe, possibly, what if," all this is irrelevant because Spock said he only needed one drop to stop one supernova that will destroy the galaxy. It is illogical to have enough red matter to make Trillions of black holes. Plus Supernovas are not big enough to wipe out an entire galaxy faster than the super black hole in the center of it. Black holes are the #1 destructive force in the universe. Why would you want to use one to stop the 3rd most destructive force in the universe?

I say they still have a chance to redeem this movie for the big fans. The black-one-fits-all costumes need to go,(x-men allready done it!) What made the Joes so memorable is each had is own trademark and brought that and his personality to the team-table. Dirtectors always want to be known for originality, well take this advice, DONT stray too far!

The animated series was great. If you guys want to redeem yourselfs the only way you can do it is to bring that Headman episode to life. AND STICK TO THE EPISODES STORYLINE!

GI Joe has such a rich background story for moviemakers to delve into--all they had to do was consult the source material--the comics, the cartoons---instead they opted to slap the fans in the face and create their own completely different GI Joe universe. This is not what fans paid to see. I dont understand how movie studios constantly serve crap on a plate and expect us to eat it with a grin on our faces and say thanks to boot!!
