Marriage between one man and one woman is a relatively recent concept as far as history is concerned. Polygamy was the norm for a great while. In their logic, the best way to handle something that they're afraid of is to try to prevent it or keep it beat down; this allows them to feel superior. Marriage is always being redefined. Polygamy is throughout the bible, and Polyamory is way more equal than Polygamy or Polyandry is. Let's say a man has 5 wives. He and two of the wives die in a car wreck. How do you divide the estate? Is it split equally among the wives? Does the wife whose been married longer get more? What happens to the dead wives children? Do the survivors take them or someone else?
Divorce, inheritance, pensions, benefits, insurance laws would all have to be rewritten to accommodate it. The same isn't true with gay marriage.

If you are referring to states exercising their rights to define law, then you should do some fact checking. As of today 5 states have changed the law to provide EQUAL rights for same-sex partners, calling it Marriage.
Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, Iowa, and Connecticut. Similar laws are already in the works in several other states, including the highly coveted Prop H8 from CA, which will most likely be overturned within days.

Marriage between one man and one woman is a relatively recent concept as far as history is concerned. Polygamy was the norm for a great while. First of all, homosexuality is a sexual preference(choice or not is irrelevant). Homosexuals, like any sexual identity, generally have consensual sex. personal I think if any number of connecting adults wish to enter into a marriage it is fine, personal it inset a arrangement that works for me but that is my opinion and my opinion only if my mother wanted to be married to a man she loved and a woman she loved I would have no problem with it what so ever, the whole "who should and shouldn't be allowed to get married" debate is a waste of time why cant we just live our lives the way we believe they should be lived and allow others to do the same

Let's say a man has 5 wives. He and two of the wives die in a car wreck. How do you divide the estate? Is it split equally among the wives? Does the wife whose been married longer get more? What happens to the dead wives children? Do the survivors take them or someone else?
Divorce, inheritance, pensions, benefits, insurance laws would all have to be rewritten to accommodate it. The same isn't true with gay marriage.

Your wrong, see there is a Huge Difference between gay or multiple marriages, and this free for all you envision, that is the problem of consent. A dog can not consent, a child should not be able to consent (though we currently have this troubling ability for the parents of teens to consent for there child, and personally I think that is wrong)

Humm, I didn't say I didn't support triads, I support Polyamorist's even polygamists marrying, as for my views on teen marriages, my concern is many times they come as a result of parental bullying and blackmail. (Not far past shot gun weddings) My rule is of consent and consent under duress isn't consent.

If you are referring to states exercising their rights to define law, then you should do some fact checking. As of today 5 states have changed the law to provide EQUAL rights for same-sex partners, calling it Marriage.
Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, Iowa, and Connecticut. Similar laws are already in the works in several other states, including the highly coveted Prop H8 from CA, which will most likely be overturned within days.
I'd say that's progress.

I personally think the Government should NOT endorse ANY marriage, no tax deductions for it. I have been married for 12 years, it is a CONTRACT, nothing more.
Like I said, keep Government out of religion, this is nothing more than a means to attack those who do not agree with the homosexual lifestyle. You can be rest assured that if gay marriage comes, and you disagree with it and have your kids pulled from school... HATE CRIME!
