@laptopdragon Yes you can try and use perfectly Elive, the payment is only for install it, there's alternative options for the persons that by any reason can't pay the 15 bucks of the installation, you have details about this in the moment of the payment, these alternatives are made for those persons that can't possible to pay or because 15 bucks are too much for them (some countrys is a lot of money, or simply don't has money), because Elive don't want to restrict the possibility to use it

my concern here is how can i (or anyone) write a webpage w/out any o.s. installed.
or BEFORE they installed it and used it...(may i incorperate knoppix 6.1 which locks down the desktop and permissions, but is a great "livecd)...
i propose, expiring modules, allow the install, and configurations, and then if u like,pay or write.
problem= HDD format happens before the install (or not b/c of missing modules)
