for wii yes you need the belt that you can put the wii remote in, but for xbox you dont because of the cool xbox eye/ camera/ move/ kinnect. it tracks your movements with the camera pluss it has night vision and you can see dots all over the room in the dark its cool lol....

@djuro20 Well, some people may have already had the Xbox for their games, then bought the Kinect to be more active then just sitting there when they played their games. Then they decided, "hey, I'll just get a dance video or workout video for my Kinect." It also tells you when you're doing a move wrong, which is quite helpful, and dvd's can't let you know if you're doing something incorrectly. But for those who don't have the Kinect or Xbox, getting a dvd workout would make sense. =)
