Kerrigan, I admire the message for holiness. Anyone who loves Jesus Christ will decide to obey Him. However, the message I hear from scripture and also personal experience is that victory over sin comes from Christ. You seem to be preaching a message of living out a holy life entirely upon self effort. This runs counter to my understanding that Christ empowers our victory once we honestly turn to Him.
@RobertMOdell When have I ever suggested or hinted at that we live a holy life "entirely upon self effort"? Please show me where I have ever said that. I have always said that we can do ALL things THROUGH Christ who strengthens us (Phil. 4:13). WE must do the obeying though. Christ will NOT do the obeying for you...
@skellys3 It's what you didn't say. Your message does not apply too well for those caught in harmful addictions, with no ability to obey without Christ's help. Just because someone wants to forsake sin and vice doesn't mean they can do it. Without Christ's help in doing so, it is a powerless effort that nearly always results in failure. I don't hear this in your preaching, despite the excellent message for holiness.
@RobertMOdell It sounds like you're hearing what you want to hear then. In my open air preaching, witnessing 1-2-1 and "church" preaching, I always say that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Christ always stands ready to help the person who has a broken spirit, a broken and contrite heart. It doesn't matter what the sin is, "addiction" or not.
You when you say, "Just because someone wants to forsake sin and vice doesn't mean they can do it." How can God hold...
@RobertMOdell (cont.)....someone accountable for their sins if they can't stop them or have to do them? God holds all sinners accountable for their sins because they CAN be avoided. To say otherwise is to malign the character of God. God commands ALL men, EVERYWHERE to repent because they CAN!
It almost sounds like you want to give the sinner some kind of excuse for their sin. Well, they have no excuses and part of my job is to remove ALL of their excuses...since they really have none!
@jorgelroque Just watch them for a day or so. It doesn't take much discernment or Bible knowledge to see that what they do blasphemes the name of Christ...
@skellys3 Please mention a couple of specific examples. i do watch them and some preachers I dont pay attention, others I like, like the way of the master, Billy Graham archives, Dr. Stanley, etc. But I haven't really seen any "blasphemes the name of Christ" Please be more specific.
I don't have a problem with his presentation. In order for the Holy Spirit to convict, a sinner must learn the Bad News before truly appreciating the Good News. Would you glady and willingly undergo open heart surgery without a complete & proper diagnosis first? It's the same with the Great Physcian. Bad News First, Good News second. No true conviction, no true conversion.
Is love really love without discipline and rules? Is it love to allow your child to play in the street?

You shall have no other gods
You shall not lie
You shall not murder
You shall not commit adultery
You shall not steal
it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the JUDGEMENT:
whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the LAKE OF FIRE.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me
that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord SHAL BE SAVED
ARE YOU SAVED?
