thank you - thank you --- I have wanted to hear this version again - I wasn't a fan of this song until I saw them preform it live in 77 - the opening made it somehow more complete - wish they would have kept it in or released and official version - thanks again
As a teacher of the ``Ageless Wisdom Teachings``this song speaks of the great awakening that we all one day will go through as we pass through the gates of Initiation.- ``Master of images-songs cast a light on You``-
I was lucky enough to see this @ MSG in NY when I was a kid. I'll never forget Jon w/ the gigantic harp playing the solo in the middle of the song, Chris in his white striped suit playing the triple neck bass guitar, and Rick Wakeman with his keyboards taking up the entire right side of the stage. GREAT stuff, Classic!!
Still one of the most credible, and influential bands in existence today. We all hope Jon Anderson rejoins at some point in time, since the band is not truly complete without him. Thanks for the post.
this is the unique song with a prelude, but I´m sure that it also is possible with Ritual, the Ritual in yesshows is the best of all, is really amazing, the heart of the song is amazing, Yes did it too much good. Yesshows is my favorite concert
i think the MEN arena in manchester, the singer will not be Jon Anderson as he is ill, but the tribute band 'Close to the Edge's' singer Benoît David will be singing and Chris Wakeman's son Oliver Wakeman will be playing the keyboards.
yestopographic73: THANK YOU, THANK YOU for finding this and carefully uploading it. thank you for your loyal dedication to deliver something like this. amazing. well, Yes's Awaken is far, far my favorite music piece. Wow incredible performance, during those years this masterpiece sound better (from the performance point of view) than recent versions...
Why is there not a version of Yesshows out there with the live version of Awaken on it? This live version (including that MAGICAL extended intro) adds up to the liveliest version of this Yes epic so far. If there is a Japanese import or some other version of Yesshows out there, could you give me a heads up?
Ive not heard this intro before, either! This, most definitely, is the greatest rock overture song that any rock child, wizard, or virtuoso will tell you it compells and continues to compell the imagination since it's origination in the mid-70's!
I am totally stunned by this introduction! I've never heard Yes do this, but wish they would have done more! These guys were so ahead of their time, so innovative, so totally unique! WOW!

This song is high art. I don't know anything in rock to touch it. It is the masterpiece of a truly great band.
