  • In order to get decent results in Yafaray, without the grainy look, you need to turn up the number of final gather samples. Try 64-128. Also increase the number of AA samples and passes.

  • do a tut on how to make the water?

  • what IOR

  • Normally the IOR of water is 1.333 but I used 1.10.

  • lol for my first yafaray animation, i used 2...

  • Hi, I recently installed Yafaray and I've had a lot of trouble with it so far. When I use the settings you've provided, I still get a grainy, blue plane underneath my glassy object. It also seems to me that the only way to get caustics to appear is to use a very high-powered area light pointed straight at my object, and even that doesn't work with metal (plus it creates an ugly white circle on the plane). How can I avoid these problems? Thanks

  • Perhaps you need more photons.

  • the best light for caustics is a spot light, because it concentrates the photons. Don't use too much power. Oh and you must set the light type as spot in Yafaray.

  • how did you instal yafaray?...i had so many problems i almost give up yafaray....i am curious how did you do that

  • Just download and install Yafaray. For problems see the Blender console. You need the correct version of Python and after this you can use Yafaray. For the animation I used Blender 2.48 and Yafaray 297. All works fine for me under Windows Vista. You can get more professional help in the Yafaray forum.

    Best regards,

    Willi

  • you could also tryusing luxrender -a completely (afaik at least) unbiased render engine

  • I did some tests with Indigo 1.1.18 and LuxRender some time ago. I am not so happy with the Indigo results and I am still waiting for a stable LuxRender release.

  • Could you give a tutorial on how you did that?

  • On my homepage you can find informations about settings with some images. At the moment i have no time to write a tutorial, but perhaps later.

  • I made this song...

  • Very nice and wuts name of song

  • The first part is rendered with Yafaray and the second part of the scene is rendered with the blender internal renderer.

You have to go to the Shading-Tab (F5) and select Wire. That's all.

  • How to make the 2nd scene of the clip? wireframe?
