  • great video

  • Flamethrower time!

  • Kill it with fire!

  • "Ring Out!"

  • "this is my foam nigga!"

  • Looks like Mitt Ron and Newt in a debate

  • Watching this made my skin crawl...

  • is that your pets?

  • How interesting... They look like they have healthy relationships and life cycles in there. I can see little nymphs in there, so they must be happy!

  • To you people who think you can take on a zombie invasion.

Hold one of these, then I'll believe you.

  • @CannibaIZombie What are u talking about? my kitchen is a cockroach cementery

  • divide and conquer bitches

  • Natures cleaners, I see them in a different light now. Very intelligent insects.

  • Cool~

Sometimes I'll hear a scuttling like that and I wonder if mine are fighting. I've never caught them in the act though. I have to open the lid to check on them and that startles them into hiding...

My colony is super small since they're purely display animals/pets, not feeders. Out of my males, one has noticably larger horns. He's huge and it really stands out. We call him "The Boss" and like to joke that he kicks all the others butts! ;p

  • @Skyeflyte You made me laugh with that "boss" line. Just as I told PDMLJC, if you like roaches, you're in my book. I had 3 of this species 10 years ago (Takana, Monocco, and Naoshi). Had to give them up. Interestingly, Takana was the only one that hissed at me, never heard the boys do it. I've also had Blabberous Disorderous from South America. They're the same size, but light brown like German. Keep in touch, please.

  • @pierre72ify

    Alrighty then~

I started with just three as well, all males. Huckleberry, Bartleby, and The Boss. The Boss is a talker, he's got attitude and will hiss constantly. Huckleberry will sometimes hiss a bit if you startle him, but it's not usual for him. Bartleby is very docile, never hisses.

A few months later I decided I wanted some more, so I went to a reptile store and ordered five jumbos. I got some females in that group, and later that week I found a bunch of nymphs!

  • @pierre72ify

I like to keep my colony small though, so I found homes for the nymphs. Reptile stores are currently the only place I see them for sale, but in my experience their animals weren't as good. My original three are flawless, but the ones I got from the reptile store are missing legs/antennas. One poor girl is in awful shape, every single leg is stubbed in some way. When I first got her she wasn't doing good, but I've been giving her special care and now she's feisty!

    She's "Stubbs".

  • @Skyeflyte Wow, it sounds like you take such good care of them as much as me or better!! Good for you!! They can get mean to each other if too many are kept in one tank, so it's probably good your let your nymphs go. You may try getting another tank and dispersing them. Plus I read if German roaches are bleeding that can tempt others to cannabalize them!!! I'm sure that can happen with pest species also. I think that's enough on your plate now.

  • @pierre72ify How come the silence? I just feel fellow-roach lovers should be friends and it sounds like you care about yours as much as I do mine. I was impressed and touched!! To correct a mistake I made below when I mentioned how German roaches cannabalize each other sometimes, I meant to say I'm sure it can happen with EXOTIC species also. That's what you have. Anyway, thanks for replying those couple times. Take care.

  • wtf you keep roaches thats GROSS!

  • @counterstrikenerd321 Well these are not a pest species! I know many don't know the difference, but many more like exotic species since they don't breed out of control and cause the problems that pest species do. Plus despite their couple bad habits, roaches have a lot of good about them also. They can cure cancer, heal bone fractures, pollinate plants, etc. Plus their nice color varieties, cute, wavy antennae, gentle disposition, and so on!!!! You have to look closer!

  • @pierre72ify How the hell can they cure Cancer? There immune to sicknesses cause they eat junk.

  • @counterstrikenerd321 They can cure it by eating the cancer cells off your body. I read in a book that they did this in a laboratory until the bugs died of old age. My sister says that's disgusting, but she'd rather die of cancer fool?! Plus I lived with them for 11 years in a rather high population and never got sick, so I think this lore about all the disease they supposedly carry is really exaggerated.

  • This is kinda funny, but if I EVER saw one of those nasty creepy things in real life I would suffer instant cardiac arrest!

  • man how can i get my cockroaches to mate i want some niphs to sell

  • YOU WIN!

  • oh my god these crawl around my kitchen at night

  • @kaitlolyn these aren't like like cockroaches in houses

  • that right bitch this plastic cardboard is mine XD

  • 0:45 i bet he felt like a boss

  • like glee *quietly from the corner* "stop the violence..."

  • kill it with fire

  • i like how he's so intense in the fight. "Yes! I am the master!"

    "Now, what?"

  • i would fucking kill them shits with a book...

  • @Babygurl20336 oy! roaches feel pain you know, they are magnificent! why kill them?! imagine if it was you!

  • @PDMLJC yeah but somone would be scared shitless if they saw one in thier house -__-''

  • @sourcarerofwow fat chance though, they live in madagascar only!

  • @PDMLJC THANK YOU!! I'm convinced they have feelings like animals and humans. When my landlord fumigated, I'd see 1000's on their backs all wiggling, looking so helpless. I love their colors and wavy antennae. Plus I grew up watching the Raid commercials and have my own site about them Raid Bug Drama in flickr/groups. I'd like to stay in touch. Anyone who likes roaches is in my book!!!

  • @pierre72ify U R AWESOME! i have roaches too, two males and three females, i luv them so much! i'd like to stay in touch too, u r definately a friend of mine! any other favourite insects or pets?

  • @PDMLJC Thank you for your compliments! I had some crickets and tomato beetles, but they all died last winter. Flies are my second favorite since they are gentle but are hated for being dirty and pesky, just like roaches. They'd be hard to keep, though. Have a couple friends that are letting me collect German roaches out of their houses to protect them from the exterminator. Had 3 hissers 10 years ago, but had to give them up. Out of space. Many more ideas to share!!

  • @pierre72ify tomato beetles? never heard of them, i also didn't know you could keep flies.... what do you feed them? seeya!:)

  • @PDMLJC No I never kept flies. I was saying they are my second favorite bug partly because they are gentle, but hated a lot like roaches. So if they're in the house, I won't kill them either. Tomato Beetles are small, black and red, and soft-bodied. Oval-shaped like roaches. They were infesting a Hess Express store near me, so I rescued some.

  • @pierre72ify oh! now i get it! so, i tink i might have seen tomato beetles before.... anyway, i also have a bearded-dragon lisard named suzan.

  • @PDMLJC Reptiles I'm not big on 'cause they eat my bugs, same with spiders. After a few dark and shriveled cases, one of my roaches' egg cases finally hatched a couple days ago. The babies are so tiny! I'd been separated from German roaches for 14 years, so excuse the excitement. They represent my young adult years when things were easier. Seeing them of all sizes thrive in the tank O glory!

  • @pierre72ify one of my female cockroaches recently layed a batch of eggs, but now she is dying! also, my male cockroach has recently died because he got in a fight with the other male (probably over the female)! and yet furthermore, my mother wants to burn the eggs alive because she thinks "our house is going to be infested with cockroaches"! what do i do?!!!!

  • @PDMLJC OH BUDDY I'M SO SORRY!! Both to hear about your boy and girl and the predicament you're in!! I'd take them if you're in my area (Central New York). Maybe contact the person you got them from? When I get home, I'll look up in a book some places that might take them. Have you tried to explain to your mother that they are not a pest species? Maybe hide them on her? I'll be back with you shortly!

  • @pierre72ify hey pierre27ify! i'm sorry i haven't contacted you lately, how's it going? ok, so i am sorry, but i am nowhere near your area. we're a thousand miles of sea away! i am from the uk, there has been one more death. one of my roaches drowned. i've only two left.

  • @PDMLJC Well thank you for writing back. Again I'm SO SORRY about your babies and the mother. Though we're so far away, I'm sure I still could've helped you. I've mailed roaches before. Well too late now. I know how you feel! I'm collecting German roaches from a friend's house. A mother I named Amber lived with a broken leg, her eggs never hatched, and now she's dead! And that's just scratching the surface!

  • @pierre72ify we have been through similar situations yet.

  • @pierre72ify Yes. I've been through worse than I mentioned also. In 1990, my landlord had a city order to fumigate. I protected many roaches in 3 tanks. The exterminator found them later and slaughtered all the ones I protected!! Plus I imagine the reason you didn't write for a bit, you must've been depressed about your loss. I totally understand! I wish your remaining pair the best of luck!

  • @pierre72ify hi! first of all, i am so so so so sorry i haven't contacted lately. i am utterly flattered you gave me you're number! i am sorry, the female is dead, the eggs dried up and another female died of drouning. but i have two left, luckily, they are m and f. they strengthen my chances of getting a new batch. thank you for you're prayers and concerns, you'res sencirely-pdmljc.

  • @PDMLJC I just looked up my contact for the entomology chairman at Cornell Univ. his E-mail is JGS5@cornell.edu. He should be able to give you some suggestions that might be better. Try to reason with your mom. Hopefully she'll understand your grief about the adults and she wants to take what's left of them! Not fair! Remind her that they're helpless unborn offspring who haven't lived yet. I'll say a prayer.

  • @pierre72ify thanks mate, you're a good friend!

  • @PDMLJC How come I haven't heard from you since Saturday?? I want to know how you made out with your eggs. Also is your female still holding on? Whether your in my area, you can call me day or night if you need help there (315) 253-3060

  • @pierre72ify if you like to keep your self occupied with moral and so on ...you shoud take a look at hungry people that live in africa or war or something more important...best wishes....grow up

  • @bestekboy Well 3rd world people have quite a few fighting for them like the Peace Corps, Christian Children's Fund and World Vision. Actually I have a sponsored child in Malawi. Though man may be more important, my bugs have noone to fight for them (maybe 10 of us in the world that care). I may be a little silly getting emotional over the Raid cartoons, but I've seen the same thing in real life as I said.

  • @pierre72ify thats ok...just one more thing....these male s fight over teritory no1 pushed them to fight ...its natural for them XD

  • @bestekboy Yeah human, animal or bug that seems to be a norm with males. I had two boy gerbils that lived with their father for 2 years and got along beautifully. Once the babies turned 2 years they turned on the father then each other. I'm glad I have German roaches. I haven't seen the fighting amongst them or hardly at all. Whether you agree with me or not, keep the contact going. It will not only help us understand each other, but also others who visit the page.

  • soo cool!

  • the big one's all like "do i have to put you two in separate corners again?!"

  • Hey just wondering.. my roaches fight a lot and does it ever happen to you, that they bite off each others antennas and small parts of their feet?

I've got a aggressive little bastard and he just wont stop attacking the other males D:

  • Imagine finding one in the middle of your kitchen floor...

  • I hate cockroaches, but this one is a champ! XD

  • how much for one???

  • EEEEWWW!!! eeekkkkk!!!!!! roaches freak me out!

  • This is such a cool video!! I got some more respect for roaches by seeing this. Now I have my own dubia colony to feed my chameleons! ;-) Thanx for posting!

  • Hissing pussies.

  • Gross!

    Roaches are gross.

  • GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO GO!

  • crip vs blood

  • EEEEEEEEEK!!!!!!!!!

  • Very cool to watch! Gives me a bit of an other view on these insects. I have a veiled chameleon, and this is one of the insects they feed them. I don't dare it haha. Do these become a pest around the house when they escape?

  • Yes.... The Styrofoam is his.

  • That's right - just throw him over the edge!

Giant hissing cockroaches are native to Australia, and I've seen one up close which literally made my skin crawl. (Watching these fight was interesting though).

    Thanks

  • @Dan17live These kinds of hissers definitely are NOT native to Australia. There's a reason theyr'e called Madagascar hissing cockroaches. They are only native to Madagascar. Although, the Rhinoceros roach and several other large cockroach species are native to Australia, you may just be confused.

  • looks like a rape to me

  • Did they made a battle riffle made for roach yet?

  • Why can't house roaches do this?

  • lol. Get the fuck off my slab............ Bitch.

  • ahaha tht was fuuny as soon as he fell that mutha fucka was like oo shit i got fucked up yo

  • awsome

  • LOL

  • Awesome fight!

  • lol i agree with coma hes like 'yea get off my turf u loser im da best anyone wants some no? then back off' and the winner in the left coner the mister hisser dont piss him off

  • I love the ending.

The last roach standing is like "Yeah bitches this is my house now!"

  • lol haha that was good

  • amazing!

  • id love to feed these vermin to my emperor scorpion

  • and to the victor the box! Plus all the ladies XD I got the mini ones of these Dwarf Madagascar hissing roach love em to bits

  • so they fight over territory? are these types of roaches the only kind that are territorial?

  • Most adult male roaches are territorial and will duel with other males.

  • Friggin great! Thanks for sharing. :D

  • king of the hill lol
