  • The Other Side of the Mountain is one of the greatest melodrama films ever made

  • 12-17-2011. She's not a bore. She's just 64. Happy Birthday, Marilyn.

  • Every paraplegic in the world or person who has suffered a debilitating accident should see this film

  • One of my favorite movies.

  • Well it's kinda weepy compared to the story of the real Jill Kinmont... but it is one of my favorite movies too... thanks for posting:)

  • @syntaur Is it that different from the real story of Jill Kinmont? I thought it was pretty similar to her real life. How is it different?

  • @stitchesful Well I was reading the book a few years ago after rewatching the movie for a ??? time...:) yes I am old enough to remember actually going to the movie theater when this movie came out for the first time:) And actually liked how the book got into more detail on not only Jill skiing accomplishments leading up to the Snow Cup race... but also on her rehab afterwards and education on becoming a teacher, Instead of just focusing on her breakup with Buddy and death of Dick Buek.

  • @syntaur So basically it just goes into more detail about it all? Was there anything added to the movie to make it more entertaining, or was everything in the movie true?

  • I am a big fan of Skiing History... considering this period of skiing in the United States... at least in the Western United States... sort of like the Pioneer Years... And since watching this movie and reading the book I have gone on to research connected characters... like Dick Buek... Buddy Werner... Dave McCoy... Andrea Mead Lawrence... ect... IMO too... it is time for a THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN- PART 3.

  • @syntaur Dave Mc Coy is a pioneer, starting Mammoth Mountain and look what it's become to day. Dave is still alive today in his late 90's.

  • @syntaur This film works the way The Sound of Music works or Titanic. It covers all the basic emotions that anyone would experience in this situation. There's the ineffective parents who can only give her love and little else. The best friend that reminds her of how bad everything is. The boyfriend who dumps her because he cannot come to terms with her handicap and then the man who re-enters her life to reconnect her with the spirit she thought she had lost.
