The Cataclysm that ended the world was the Titanic Duel between Satan and Devilman, but Devilman lost and Satan won.

@FalseImpressionist75 Go watch the newer Devilman OVAs. Most of Devilman was pretty standard typical super-hero anime fare, but towards the ending, it took a really dark turn and went just crazy, killing off almost all the main cast in rather gruesome and unjustified ways.

@Invincnerd You see this is why I got fed up with anime in the end: too many shows that follow that boring Good & Evil narrative where all the good guys die disturbing horrible deaths and all the bad guys die significantly less disturbing horrible deaths and the good guys refuse to let loose because of some moral complex of humanity, not to mention every fight turning out one sided for the bad guy till the good guy pulls out some last minute miracle. I get so sick of that shit!

Actually, that's very different from what happened in Devilman. It was literally the end times and because Fudo was revealed to be Devilman by the media, human paranoia took over. It wasn't demons who killed most of the main cast, but instead, a lynch mob killed them. Fudo couldn't let loose cus the moment he did, Amon took over his body and Amon ate the other main characters.

@madloz76 It does have a story, but it's not a great one. It's post apocalypse survival basically. Various gangs of thugs rule the post apocalyptic japan and they terrorize on civilians. Then comes Violence Jack and gives the bad guys a good beating. Very simple, not deep :)

I'd recommend you watch it for the gore and not the story alone.
