  • o my God...thank youuuu...i love love love ur video...

  • i'm 11 and i love your vids

  • thanks for sharing this:-)

  • I loved this tutorial vlog! I never thought to use a concealer brush to put on primer, great tip.

  • The Mac 109 sheds like crazy just like Macs 187 and some other brushes they sell and for the prices they charge for their brushes they shouldn't leave 10 or more hairs on my face and I know lots of ppl complain about Mac brushes shedding so it would be nice if you would mention this in your videos when reviewing Mac brushes so at least ppl know what to expect. The only Mac brushes worth the price are the few great eye brushes, all the others can be duped for less and are just as good or better.

  • This helps so much; thank you!

  • Hi Corey..(sorry if i didn't spell your name right, sorry:) I'm kind of worried bc I bought some "strictly Professional" cosmetic brush cleaner from the U.K. and it has C10-13 Isoparaffin as it's main ingredient..I just watched all of your vid's on cleaning brushes and now I'm worried I used a harsh solvent on my brushes. Help!! lol...

  • great video

  • i'm guessing you're a filipino and i love your videos... i love the way you explain things, its very clear not too fast and not too slow.

  • Thanks for the video: My must haves: MAC 182, ELF Powder Brush (Flat Top), MAC 227, Jane Iredale Crease Brush, MAC 239. I don't wear foundation only face powders, and my eye makeup is pretty neutral with only 2 shadows most of the time....so.......very simple! My other brushes I rarely touch!

  • u have a beautiful smile!!! i love ur personality!!!

  • Thank you for this vid, I was searching info because I need to buy some brushes (I do not have any) and It's a great tutorial. Koren you are asome

  • thank you koren!

  • YOU ARE AWESOME!

  • I was just inventoring all my brushes and came across what I thought was a weird brush. NOW that I saw your video I actually know what it's for, it's a stippling/ skunk brush..lol....I didn't know that. I never used it and didn't know what to use it for. I have a ton of very good high end brushes but never know what they're for, I esp. have problems with all those different eye shadow brushes. Thanks

  • hey i am about to start my own make up artistry. could u please suggest exact how many of which brush i should have?thanks.

  • What brush works well with pressed powder foundation?

  • My friend just recommended your channel to me, and I think you are absolutely delightful to watch! Very informative and down to earth - thanks for the tut; I look forward to watching more from you =)

  • thanks for sharing

  • I like watching him

  • i'm italian but for me mac brushes are too expensive!

  • only mac brushes? there's no other unexpensive brush instead of these??

  • He has a video or two about inexpensive brushes. Thanks to him, I saved BIG BUCKS! Check it out!

  • ALSO I HAVE A CHANNEL OF MAKE UP, hopes one day become good as you. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL"

  • Are cheap brushes good?

  • sorry i'm only a quarter way thru the vid but i have to say omg i luv u u seem like the sweetest guy in the world! :D

  • Im getting a present for my sister, this helped

  • i use Koren's duo fibre paddle brush to apply bronzer and blusher...it gives a light and airy finish to the cheek and does not deposit too much product...i love it bcos it allows gradual build-up of colour by layering the product...i got the whole set during the Memorial Day Sale this year...

  • thanks, this is really realy helpful.

  • this was sooooooo helpful!

    thanks so muchh

  • THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP.

  • Thanks! BIg help:)

  • Have you used the elf brush set or the elf studio?

  • yea i have...they have primarily good brushes for such a cheap price but ive found that the eye brushes work better than the face brushes, because the face brushes have like coarser thicker bristles which are harsh for the skin but the eye brushes are really good..i recently tried the blending brush from the studio coll. and it blended awesome just like the mac ones. so yea thats my opinion. =]

  • Thanks for the informational video, really helps a lot :D

  • hey there koren,

how do you depot a quad eyeshadows? i love your vids.

  • Your teeth are so white! I'm jealous lol.

  • I learned something new today :) {the existance of pointed brushes for eye shadow/eyeliner :) } thanks again!!

  • Wow i found this extremely helpful! thank you so much Koren ^^ I've been trying to find the right brushes and I found that the 219 and the 239 from MAC work best. Again thanks! your such an amazing guru! luvs ya!! ^^

  • can stippling brush be used on a loose foundation powder? it seems like it will create an effect just as good! I actually use a normal tapered brush and pretend I'm stippling.....it's quite fun. The powders go into pores and fills them up,making ur skin smooth. Try Belle Pierre products.

  • Thanks Koren, I've been trying to figure out which basic brushes I've needed for ages. You truly are an amazing guru.

  • Koren, What is ONE *bright* color that anyone of any skin tone can pull off?

  • I'd say teal or tourquoise

  • which brush would u say is the most well-rounded for eye makeup? like that could be just used to get the job done?

  • you go into such details, it's so informative. thanks, koren! =]

  • the MAC 211 is not available

    he is out of stock

  • Thanks so much!!! it was all very very helpfull!!!

  • Thanks, your videos are very helpful :]

  • thank you for spending your time teaching us

  • koren can you show us how you get your teeth so white ?

  • Koren,

I was wondering if you could do a video or 2 on makeup application for men. My friend is getting married and the groom to be agreed that I could do his makeup as well for the photographs. I only have done makeup of female clients, I have never done makeup on a man.. HELP! lol

  • michellephan has a video on how to do makeup for men :)

  • koren, love your videos :)

  • Nice helpful vid! :)

  • ur freaking awesomeo

  • Pretty much the perfect video, Koren. Thanks!

  • That was really helpful, thank you.

  • thank you so much !!!!!!!

  • Very informative. Thank you.

  • thank you so much this will help me alot!!!

  • Koren, luv you! This was so educational :)

Seriously, the 208 is my fave brush, you made me so happy mentioning it!

I've used it for cream/gel liner, dry lining the eyes with shadow, picking up color from creamy eye pencils, fine brow shaping, even blending and smoothing out the edges of lip color in a pinch. Hahaha. It is truly a miracle brush.

  • i can watch you allday!

  • He mentioned having a website...but what is it?

If anyone knows can you please tell me I can't fine it anywhere on his page.

    Thx <3

  • ooo nevermind guys I just googled and found it haha that was simple :P

  • it was right in front of you at the start of the video :)

  • I never watch the beginning haha I just fast-forward guess that's why I missed it :P oh well I still found it regardless.

  • i hope he washes those brushes before he uses them on someone else, because he might forget because they have no product on them.

  • All the info you share with us is just awesome! Hugs...

  • I was watching some of your older videos...then I watch this one and realize how hugeeee the quality improved and changed! Lol love you Koren....and I kinda don't care for the 190 for foundation..I like it for face charts......but I love the 188 and 109, haven't tried that yet for foundation I use it for blush then contour and highlight, but I must get it for foundation XD...an I love my 217 an 224! Awesome video koren =D

  • is he related to pursebuzz ?

  • Yay ! Seems like I got plenty to work with ! Thanks for your help Koren :-)

  • I've just purchased the Sigma 12 brush set with the roll. So excited, I can't wait for them to arrive! =]

  • I thought I was the only one that noticed this :P

But then I watched more of his vids and I think it's just the way he talks.

  • Hihi, okay then .. mine mistake .. he's great btw .. this is for all those who "punished" me with minuses ;)

  • Hi Koren, could you explain WHY certain shapes are good for specific types of makeup? For example, concealer brushes are filbert/flat shaped because they place color densely and well, etc. Thanks!

  • Great! Thanks so much Koren! I SO needed this.

  • hey what are fan brushes for?

  • Comment removed

  • to remove fall out under the eye

  • blusher

thnku so much for making this vdo enkore...it was very helpful :)

  • great great great VID:)

  • Great video!

  • i really liked this video.. . it just shows me that i made some really good choices on the brushes i've purchased from MAC... Thanks...

  • awe your so cute, i idolize you, seriously, and thanks for this video, it really helped =)

  • So do you know what nc and nw stand for

  • Makeupbyttifanyd has a great video on that subject, but basically NC is a cool toned person, while NW is a warm tone.

So I think of it this way, C is more yellow based, W is slightly more pink/neutral.

  • @EAC1215 actuallly you have it the other way around. NC means neutralizes cool (meaning its warm toned). NW neautralizes warm (meaning its cool toned). i've asked numerous mac artists at various locations and on the website through live chat.

  • @shortie182 MAC has a very... screwed up system. Try watching Pixiwoo's video on the subject.

The way I think of it, if not based on mac, Pink is warm. Like a fire, red is a warm color. It's the same way on a color wheel.

Yellow tones (NC) aren't necessarily cool, technically yellow is in between, but I guess you could say it was cool as most people don't have green undertones (which would truly be the cool alternative)

I don't know why MAC wouldn't base their system on an actual color wheel.

  • I love my 226 crease brush...It's da bomb..thank God I have 3 back ups of this item..lol..

  • what about for eyebrows?

  • AlyssaProduction: A stiff angled brush works, or a spoolie.

  • For your eyebrows, you'd probably want something similar to the MAC 208. Something flat and angled.

  • I wish MAC would come out with a make your own brush kit like 5 brushes of your choice for 100 or something. I want the 109 so bad but hate having to fork out $35 just for a brush.

  • Sigma makeup!

They have mac comparable brushes, and they have a 109 dupe! You can get 12 brushes for like 65 bucks

  • I've heard from youtube that Sigma is in the process of improving the 109 in terms of density (since it's currently less dense than MAC's) & to reduce or get rid of the shedding problem entirely; apparently it currently sheds as much as MAC's. You'd think that MAC would have fixed the 109's shedding problem years ago.

  • yay! i was trying to find another brush!

what is a good nudeish e/s color from mac?

  • lolol.

  • it's a bump! why are you answering your own question? lol.. it's not a bump! his bandana is just placed differently! =P

  • Thanks for the tutorial it really helped

  • The Mac 150 was my first mac brush. i dont care what anyone say Mac brushes are the best they last long and their very good quality. their worth the investment. i am more into the eye brushes because i am a eyeshadow girl.

  • i agree! i'm just starting to invest in mac brushes and they are really incomparable!!! they're worth the cost cuz they last!

  • amazing video especially for people just beginning to become obsessed w makeup like me. thank you enkore you save my life time and time again!

  • Thanks for taking the time to make this, very helpful :)

    x

  • yay thanks EnKore! i was one of those emailers....lol u really helped me out thanks alot!

  • i just learnt alot here...especially about the eye brushes. now i know what i need.

  • ahah THANK YOU. X

  • I love watching your videos! They are so helpful and insightful! =)

  • Where did you get your contour brush from?

  • That was a MAC one. Not sure what number.

  • The contour brush is the synthetic 169 from the 2005 Rachel Welsh collection which is not longer available. You probably can find it for swap on makeupalley. However, strangely enough, this spring I did find 3 still available at my local MAC Store.

  • Really helpfull just clear and direct, thanks a lot. loves your videos. A+

  • You are a great teacher! Just wonderful!

  • Thanks :)

  • Great vid koren, as usualy <3

  • I learn something from every video you make...thank you! This was very helpful. "StarryEyedStina" got it right...you ARE the Alton Brown of makeup!!

  • Really, really helpful!!!! Thank you very much....I love you Koren!!!

  • Thanks for the help EnKore!

  • what's the difference between cream, liquid, mineral, etc... foundation? Why do people choose one or another? Do they have anything special to each formulation?

  • This was really, really helpful! Thank you! :)

  • You are awesome!! So informitive!!

  • Thanks EnKore very helpful. I need a few more brushes in my life for sure.

  • you're awesome! before i got my mineralize skinfinish natural, when i was researching it, everybody said to use a kabuki brush. so i have been and i noticed that i feel like its buffing my concealer off. i dont wear foundation. i was considering using a reg. powder brush, and your advice just sealed the deal for me. thank you!!

  • lollll love the way you say soo.

  • thank you so much for this.. really helpful..because there are so many type of brushes.. get confused to buy which one.. Again thanks a lot.. you are always helping us..love ya

  • I LOVE how informative you are in your videos. I was hoping that I would have this title, but you totally deserve to be called "The Alton Brown of Makeup/Beauty." As for me, i'm a big fan of a dense angled brow brush & spoolie. I use the spoolie to remove foundation/powder from my brows, the angled brush to fill in brow color, & also map out where to draw the pencil (bc 1 eyebrow is shorter than the other)

  • hey koren!

awesome video! i love how you said 'if you use this, then here's the brush', sometimes other gurus' videos imply that i should have and use more than what i like! thanks again :)

  • Thanks SO much for going into detial on the types of brushes to get. VERY helpful.

  • thank you for this great video :)

  • I was wondering which is better. Sigma or Coastal Scents

  • sigma i think for some but the coastal buffer flat top is AMAZING

  • I'm debating which one to get. Does Costal Scents come in a pack of brushes like Sigma?

  • yeah there are loads of sets

  • Which one though? I know both have great brushes but which has the most brushes that cost less? (in a pack)

  • the sigma 12 piece set 64 dollars the 13 piece from coastal scents id crappy stuff but 6 bagger brushe sfoe like 26 dollars

  • Awesome information YOUR awesome KOREN!

  • thank you so much for this! this really helped me

  • OMG i absolutely LOVE you for doin this video..! it has helped me ALOT.. thank you =D .x.

  • Although I don't comment very often I watch every single video you make Koren and as people are saying in the comments, Koren's channel is pretty much 101 for everything makeup.

It's also nice to have someone making in depth reviews for advanced makeup users but also this kind of advice for beginners. As Koren said don't buy brushes for products you won't even use, don't put the car before the horse guys ^^

  • I love your videos cos you are always have something interesting to say, some advices and you are always smiling :)

    Thanks for everything!

  • I love that you have "customize-able" must have brushes video. Most people on Youtube will tell you 10 different brushes that we ALL 'must have" without ever considering what makeup products we use or not. Again, Koren, you are amazing!!!

  • Thanks for the info on brushes!

    Love all your vids! :D

    ~Summerbreeze

  • thanks =) xx

  • Thanks this was very helpful for me since I'm starting to need more and more brushes.

  • Where can I find cheap stippling brushes from?

  • coastal scents, or sigma brushes

  • You can do ebay or craft stores even. He did a video about alternatives before.

  • yeah im wondering that too. where to buy cheap stippling brushes?

  • I got a really good Sonia Kashuk one from Target (white handle) that I now swear by. I have used it to put on liquid foundation and also for powders and blush. I adore it.

  • thank you so much! i will check that out.
