Thank you for doing this project. There is surprisingly little on youtube on the Negro Leagues. I'll be sharing this with my middle school Sports History class.
If the Negro leagues were in existence today, think of all the great Black and Hispanic players who would be playing in it!!!! Americans got robbed of witnessing ALOT ballplayers due to devilish segregation and racism of the day.
Great documentary. Arguably, I think Willie Mays would've broken Babe Ruth's record shortly before Hank Aaron had he not spend almost 2 years in the Army in the middle of his baseball career.
There is still racism from the KKK(Ku Klux Klan)I have read books and history about the Negro Leagues and the segregations. There is a very famous Negro League baseball player who still lives by the name of Monte Irvin.
Too bad it was segregated they had great players in the negro leagues "Cool" Papa Bell, Josh Gibson, Buck O'Neil and the best years of Satchel Paige all of that would make those players rich famous house hold names like Ruth and Gherig but alas we will never no how great they were no stats for the negro leauge.
They say if Satchmo from the negro leagues would have played in the Majors he would have broke every Babe Ruth record before Hank Aaron did,do u know they use to let the Black Negro Leagues scrimmage against the all white majors like Detroit and the backs use to whip ther ass.The white man had to let us play we were just as good if not better were naturally athletic.
Just to let you people know, some Negro League Players are in the Hall Of Fame and you can see that at the Negro League Baseball Museum in Kansas City,Missouri.
They talk about records being blemished today! Records shouldn't count before 1947 because of this and Cap Anson should be removed from the Hall of Fame.
It's good they made it to Negro League Hall of Fame because it's a very great honor to be elected.Monte Irvin is my favorite player and he's in the Hall of Fame,so he's still alive and will be turning 90 this year!
still....i say thank you Brandon ...very informative i learned a lot.
