  • @knifecut can you post the begining of this video??

  • I can't believe this was around the time of 'The Nanny'! she is so scary in that and so pretty here! What is with the woman on the end not standing up? It's Bette for god sake! :)

  • I believe Arlene and Bette where friends thats why they where so close.

  • That first answer of her voice gave it away !

  • Arlene Francis is such a blood-hound! Did anyone ever fool/get past her/

  • Dorothy got up half way. They both got up for Dorothy's father and Sophie Tucker.

  • Bette Davis is at the top of my list of people I wish I could have met. It certainly would have been a bumpy night. She should have won her third Oscar for creating the great Margo Channing in one of the most sophisticated movies ever made. Her book 'Mother Goddam' is a riot!

  • @chucknyc123 yep, Bette Davis is one of the people I would invite to my dream dinner party!

  • woah, arlene actually got up!

  • i love it when arlene is full of admiration.

  • she doesn't mask her voice...I was trying to figure out who she talks like and her and angela lansbury have like identical voices...and they look alike! what's up with that?

  • she's speaking like how she spoke in the film the nanny.

  • Miss Arlene had her from the get-go.

  • Love her so much. And here she kinda looks like m Grandmother. ...but when granny was younger she looked almost exactly like Elizabeth Taylor. I always think of her when I see the these two gals.

So fun to see her on this show. 5*****

  • I LOVE HER!

  • Bette Davis - unrivalled artist. No one in Tinsel Town today can even begin to approach her body of work. Stars were REALLY stars in Hollywood's Golden Days.

  • @erzbet07 u got that right nobody can come close

  • Of all the people with huge egos she's one of the few that earned it.

  • Ms Davis does it in both appearances and I think it's so nice that she turns to bow to the audience (after greeting the panel at the end) that applauded with all their love and admiration for her. Very gracious.

  • made me cry

  • Bette rules!

  • She made no real attempt to disguise her voice. I'm surprised it took so long to guess her.

  • I got goosebumps..wow what a lady!

they sure don't make them like they used too!

  • I got goosebumps too. This was an amazing lady. One of a kind and no more. Thank you "knifecut" for this wonderful clip, thank you so much!

  • God she is fabulous FABULOUS!!!

  • Atari, frankly she didn't need to disguise her voice at first with the yes and no quiz, but then, of course, after more than 2 words we all know who it is.

  • That applause is spine tingling and she deserved it justifiably so! She was and will always be one of filmdoms immortals!

  • she had such a recognizable voice, they should've done what they did with judy garland and had bette ring a bell for yes and do something else for no.

i think it could've gone on a very long time if they had.

  • I was going to say the same as someone else already said...they shouldn't have let her talk! That made it way too easy for that panel!

  • She didn't even really try; her voice SO gave her away.

  • What?!?!?!

  • what are you talking about??

  • I'm guessing they're talking about 'Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?". It was meant to be a joke.

  • Are you B.D. in disguise?

  • I saw Bette in person in 1972,when she was during her stage show tour'An Evening With Bette Davis' she was great. She sang' I written A letter To Daddy' from 'Baby Jane' and clips from her films started the show.

  • Al the big stars on the 'What's my Line' shows had to be identified for commercial purposes, not least to save themselves the embarrassment of not being 'recognised' so to speak, so the whole series was a benign fraud.

  • yeah it does seem that way. and the overt product placement (perfume/cereal) is a bit pathetic. but it's fun watching something so old.

  • Well she was only middle aged by then Kalin' ;) seriously, yeah it is amazing to see this stuff, have you seen the Laurel and Hardy edition from 1954? - it's here on You Tube, amazing stuff, Maureen O'Hara's show too is fantastic.

  • It's not product placement, you doof. It's their sponsors. Product placement is completely different.

  • Get a better vocabulary. You don't need to swear. Besides, that was a terrible comeback.

  • I don't know if I'd call it a fraud. They were never told who was going to be on the show. But I can see what you're saying.

  • Most of the stars who came on this show DID disguise their voice, often in a very outlandish way. Not sure why Bette didn't, but it's great to see her in this anyway.

  • i LOVE her laugh...soo rich

  • I love this old show (I watch it sometimes at 3 am on the Game Show Network) and I LOVE bette Davis!! She was the coolest!

  • The greatest, we may be in for a bumpy night

  • They should make shows like this one again

  • they can't , we simply don't have have the caliber of talent and class today to do it. There aren't any more Bennett Cerfs or Arlene Francis'and John Charles Daly....and there sure as hell no mor e like Bette Davis

  • They should do a television show like this again. It is such a good idea, and so much fun to watch.

  • What year was this filmed?

  • "The Nanny" came out in 1965.

  • Love, love, love her! life. I've read that she had a great sense of humor, and was fun loving. What fantastic roles she had. For such a small physique, she sure seemed tall in the movies. I guess it was the roles that were large. Thanks alot. Neat old show.

  • Do you remember the telephone scene in "Baby Jane" when she imitates her sister to fool the liquor store? lol

  • Yes, and I think that was dubbed with Joan Crawfords' voice, don't you think?? Man Bette was a creepy slob in that movie. But she wore it well, as usual. It's not one of my favs or hers tho. Have you seen Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte?? Scary, gothic, good acting by all, interesting, moody. It has it all.

  • she did not disguse her voice...hmmmm.

  • i was readin about her life yrs ago and she used to run the canteens where the stars would waite on Service men during ww2

  • Interesting as I find her she was an egomaniac of the first order. She had a side of her that made Crawford look like Doris Day.

    Make no mistake.

    Talented? Yes. Impossible?? ABSOLUTELY

  • i love her laugh!!

  • October 24,1965: 42 years ago!!!!

  • Petah! Petah! Petah!

  • Wonderful!

  • god, i love her.

  • she had to get that from her um "french" accent!lol

  • This was soooo fantastic:)Thank You!

  • Darling Bette! She looks so kind and pretty, kind of shy. Love her autograph, too.

  • I love this. Bette sounding like Bette. She's great.

  • what has happened to movies??? This was an actress..........LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU BETT

  • Wow, thank you so much for posting this. I absolutely love her!!!!

  • super stuff, would love to see more if bette done any, god bless her xxx

  • yes...lol she was great !!!!!!!

  • promoting the NANNY!!! Bette will be one hundred in 2008. Get ready!

  • Love how Bette Davis is trying so hard to be mysterious, but her voice is unmistakable! Love how she says "yes". Thanks for posting!

  • oooh, merci beaucoup! J'aime Bette Davis et ses yeux etaient magnifiques!

  • An American legend on a legendary television show.
