  • I wish they would hang more cars behind it so you could hear it getting up to speed at full throttle ! These engines are awesome to hear !

  • Nice track signalling!!! it reminds me to english and spanish old railways :-D And wonderfull overhead wires xD

  • How do you get a cab ride?

  • whats that track on the other side of the bushes

  • today's trains are not so beautiful as the trains from the 60's

  • Did I hear a cab signal for the go-ahead? Nice.

  • I miss the F7's too I also miss the Steamers, all the Engineers back then had their own horn sound and you would the know the Engineer's name by the may they would sound the horn. I love this video. Yes I know I'm show my age.

  • Man is that weird. The last day I was at the Illinois railway museum was May 26, 2002. They had this locomotive pulling the daily passenger train for that day as well. Weird that this video was filmed 7 years to the day since I was their last and same engine pulling trains for the day too.

  • How do you get a cabride at the IRM. I've been there before and I have always been wondering how to get a cabride.

  • @MSTS8546 probably a donation but thats just me.

  • This is awesome!!!! Thanks for putting in youtube.

  • I miss F-Units. I wish they were still the kings of the railroads.

  • I'm suprised to see that they still use semiphores. I thought semiphores have been replaced long ago.

  • You're correct in that semaphores have been almost entirely replaced as signal systems throughout the U.S. But, this is a railroad museum and in addition to preserving railroad locomotives, trolleys and other rolling stock, they also have preserved additional railroad equipment such as old signals like these trackside semaphores.

  • Ok Really Dumb Question But How To You Get Into The Cab becuase i would like to get a video . do you ask the engineer? or the people?

  • just go up and ask the engineer. Be polite and they are usually pretty nice. I've ridden in the cab the past 10 times ive been down thier mainline

  • gotta love te sound of the engine, thats pure music to ears!

  • Best loco going!

  • Ilove them old f-7's and the sound of the engine and the horns
